Congratulations to our presumptive nominee, Donald Trump!

Congratulations to our presumptive nominee, Donald Trump!

Great job in New York and throughout this campaign. Cruz and Kasich are now mathematically eliminated and just like all the others who were mathematically eliminated should concede and drop out so we can all unite behind our nominee and prepare to defeat the godless America-hating traitor Hillary Clinton in November.

As conservatives and patriots, it's time to put bruised egos behind us, heal our differences and act united in the best interests of our nation. The media and the GOPe will try to keep us divided, of course, but we must not fall for their treasonous tricks.

A divided Republican party will ensure Hillary waltzes into the White House in November.

Freedom is never more than one generation from extinction. Hillary would be a third term for Obama and would complete his mission of completely destroying America.

Do not let freedom expire on our watch!!

I'm praying this forum and our loyal members will now be shifting into high gear to defend our freedom by uniting against the treasonous enemy within.

Let's get Trump over the 1237 mark and finally take the GOPe completely out of the picture!!

Then onward to the presidency in November!!

QV, with all due respect, unless you’ve joined the forum ownership, I don’t believe pointing toward the door if altura and caww have not violated the posting rules (Please: NO profanity, NO personal attacks, NO racism or violence in posts.) ... this is not your call.

I’m sure that you know by now that there is a substantive difference between explicitly supporting Killary and stating an opinion on one’s candidate of choice.... before all the primaries have been conducted.

You disagree, but I repeat:

The fifth columnists of the GOP are the reason we are divided to begin with.

Conservatives have been divided ever since Reagan first exposed the Fifth Column.

The GOP-E CREATED Trump just like they created Ross Perot. They created Obama as well.

You don’t want to blame them for a divided party because they are Cruz’ last hope against Trump.

Even Shaffly supports Trump. And so do many staunch conservatives. But the Cruz supporters place conservatism above patriotism.

This forum united against McCain. We united against Romney. Even though they ended up winning.

So please ask yourself why we don’t unite against Trump? In fact it’s the opposite: most FRiends suppport Trump.

I refuse to believe that this forumn is ‘ill informed’. An open convention is a huge gamble. The stakes are too high, and the philosophy driving this ultimate craps game is now a religion — idolatry.

And the funniest thing?

Cruz isn’t even eligibible. Churchill was more eligible. No constititutional amendment ever redifined natural born status.

But the Cruz supporters place conservatism above patriotism.

I think you may inadvertently have expressed the root of the matter:

Cruz supporters understand that conservatism is patriotism and see no conflict between the two. Trump supporters have confused Trumpism with patriotism.

That might be the most dangerous element in the phenomenon of Donald Trump. His supporters such as yourself accuse others of cultism or religiosity and their opposition to him, when they should be looking in the mirror. It is their adherence to a grievously flawed man, their willingness to rationalize any grotesquerie, that distinguishes present-day Republican politics.

When this is over, whether Trump is the nominee or not, conservatism will have to recover from Donald Trump.

Conservatism will get a much-needed boost from Donald J Trump. It’s been too doctrinaire and inaccessible for the average struggling American.

We are all Americans, after all – on the left and right side of the political spectrum.

When this is over, whether Trump is the nominee or not, conservatism will have to recover from Donald Trump.

If Conservatism means more of the same i.e. more giving international corporation carte blanche to decimate the economy then Conservationism can't die fast enough. It is an insult to say this is about Trump. It is WAY bigger than him.

We may all be Americans but we are certainly not all conservatives, Donald Trump markedly among them.

The idea of conservatism is to bring liberty and prosperity to all, especially struggling Americans. Conservatives expect to accomplish that the way Ronald Reagan contributed so effectively to that goal, by advancing individual liberty before the law and in the marketplace.

I leave it to your conscience to decide whether Donald Trump offers truth or whether he makes promises like an earlier populist, Huey "Kingfish" Long, in promising the twenty-first century equivalent of a chicken in every pot.

When you hear someone tell you that government is creating jobs, or government is looking after the disenfranchised, or government has compassion, hold onto your wallet and have a care for the Bill of Rights. It is the job of conservatism to make plain the essence of real compassion.

To the degree the conservatism needs a boost it does not need a boost from those who say you do not need to eat your spinach, I will give you all the desert you please. The boost conservatism needs comes from credibility as the source the people instinctively to turn to for the truth.

Protectionism is not conservatism.

(Nor is what has become fashionable to call globalism").

Populism is not conservatism.

(Nor is rule by elites)

True conservatism has reference to the Constitution and its limitations on government when government intrudes on the marketplace, when government intrudes in international trade on behalf of favored domestic interests, when government represents government by special interests, when government buys votes with other people's money, when government undertakes to distribute wealth, when government sets out to do that which is not constitutionally authorized to do, when government inevitably generates unintended consequences.

Conservatism adheres to these constitutional and philosophical principles rather than whoring after the man on horseback or a white Knight who promises he alone has the insight to make everything nice, or great again if you prefer. We saw the Democrats do that with Barack Obama as they had done it with every candidate since Franklin Roosevelt. We conservatives should not succumb to the same siren.

Protectionism is not conservatism.

Income taxes are progressive and tariffs are conservative. So George Washington and all the founders were wild eyed progressive protectionist liberals... Riiiiitht.

Marx was Free Trader, you are a Free Trader. So are you a Marxist?

You normally have a firm grasp on US history but on this subject you are about as stupid and ignorant as well, a liberal Democrat. It had been discussed many times that tariffs are in the Constitutional and tariffs funded and protected industry for the first 130 years of this nations existence. You are in denial my friend and dangerous.

Conservatism as you defined it is a fringe position held by few Americans and it needs to be relegated to the dustbin of history. Soon hopefully.

Constitution and its limitations on government when government intrudes on the marketplace, when government intrudes in international trade on behalf of favored domestic interests,

Preposterous. The duty of the Federal government is to secure borders and restrict trade when necessary on behalf of the citizens of the USA.

The bathroom deal is a big fat nothing burger.

Couldn’t have said it better myself.

Unfortunately, the usual suspects would have us believe it’s
most important of the issues in the campaign

The core of conservatism - liberty, self-determination, life, and preserving individual rights above the state - is accessible to all. Those are my core criteria, and anyone from either/any party who corrupts those principles in the name of conservatism does not automatically deserve my support.

The core of conservatism is putting Americans first and not letting international corporation de industrialize the USA for a buck while corrupting our federal elected officials in the process.

While that may be an element of conservatism, adherence to our founding principles cannot be abandoned in the process.

If Cruz and Trump can put their bruised feelings aside I think they could be the most formidable ticket we can hope for.

Yes, except for the fact that Ted is constitutionally ineligible to hold the office of VP, he's a Harvard lawyer and freshman senator like Obama, is entirely wooden and unlikable, AND he's made common cause with the establishment elites.

Other than that, he'd be a fine choice for the ticket.
