NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. As Donald Trump looks poised for victory in New York, he continues to lead with Republican voters on this side of the Hudson as well, according to the latest Rutgers-Eagleton Poll.
Breaking the 50-percent mark in New Jersey for the first time since announcing his candidacy last summer, Trump was named by 52 percent of registered Republican voters as their first choice if they had to cast their primary vote today.
Ohio Gov. John Kasich has ascended to a distant second in the Garden State, with 24 percent. Texas Sen. Ted Cruz comes in third at 18 percent, though support for the senator grew here in the days following his Wisconsin primary win.

Two states that no Republican will win n in November are NY and NJ. So I don’t think they should have much input on who our nominee is.
Poor Ted.
He got wiped out in the south and is about to get wiped out in the north.
He will be mathmatically eliminated very shortly.
Winner of the most absurd post of the day.
Where’s your /s tag?
Where were you when the forefathers needed your wisdom? :)
Fools like you said Trump would never win the south.
see post 3 :)
“Two states that no Republican will win n in November are NY and NJ. So I dont think they should have much input on who our nominee is.”
Take up your complaint with the RNC! They decided the delegate structure. And I’ll just bet that you think that Texas should have more influence don’t you? Funny how that works!
sorry. meant 4.
Ok. That’s brilliant. Typical Cruz supporter. Let’s just confine ourselves to the states that gave Mitt 212 EVs and call it a day.
this had to be said just out of pure frustration because no FReeper can understand so little of our country.
You ever get the feeling that an increasing number of Republican primary voters are realising that the only two choices are either hand it to Trump in the first round, or else get stuck with another Mitt/Rubio/Ryan “consensus candidate”?
Ha. I think # 3 was very good too.
Our GOP voters are the same ones who keep sending the same ones
back to DC, expecting a different result. They are insane.
He will be mathmatically eliminated very shortly.
After which hopefully most if not all of the Trolls will slither away, for at least a while.
I vote for trump in 12 and a half hours.
going straight from work.
I think there are a handful that aren’t trolls but really like the guy and have been on FR for a long time.
They just don’t see him as we do, I guess.
The Trolls are usually newbies who signed up just a few months ago. When someone challenges them legitimately, they respond back with childish insults. It’s been so for quite some time. I remember them back in the ‘08 and ‘12 campaigns.
It is based on about 200 respondents and wasn’t even likely voters. Closed Primary. Wouldn’t use these results to bet on anything
Big “conservative” Steve Lonegan is chairman for Cruz in NJ and dumping on Trump any time he can.
Hey Steve, heard about eligibility NBC requirement, or you are another “brilliant” lawyer?
So you’d prefer that only red states choose the R nomination?
So you prefer Candidate Trump, it seems! After all, he’s already swept the red states.
I was called a troll a lot when I kept going back between ted and Donald. First primary and I was confused!!
Ted’s NY comments and Chicago violence comments put the nail in the coffin for him.
