The CEO of PepsiCo, Inc., a company with roots in North Carolina, has written Gov. Pat McCrory, asking him to repeal the new law preventing specific anti-discrimination rules for LGBT people for public accommodations and restroom use.
In a letter hand delivered to McCrory on Friday, PepsiCo head Indra Nooyi called the law inconsistent with how her company treats its employees.

This is why I drink store-brand soda only. Faygo’s Moon Mist tastes better than Mountain Dew at half the cost.
It's surreal the push back NC gets for protecting women.
Yeah, here you have a once as American as apple pie company, that is now some sort of an international entity run by some “Female Elephant Rider” from India. Now just how “American” is that? Stand strong Governon McCrory, what you and your legislature did was right and proper. If Pepsico chooses to loose it’s market in NC, so be it. Besides, Pepsi Cola is crap anyway! Kinda like sugary battery acid with a hint of hospital medicine thrown in for good measure.
Wait, you mean to tell me that the government of NC has the power to compel PepsiCo to adopt policies that discriminate against a class of employees and customers that PepsiCo believes need special protection?
This one is so vaguely worded I cannot tell which law the dothead chick is against.
You know AP did it on purpose.
This nonsense will end real quick when men start pissing all over the seats in women’s bathrooms.
Inconsistent with the way she treats her employees? She makes the girls go to the potty with the boys?
Quit flapping your gums and Just Stop Doing Business in/with N.C.
Fenway Park (Boston) had trough urinals, don’t know if they had to take them out or not.
It really doesn't matter since libs will use Justice Potter Stewart's sense of jurisprudence (his concerning pornography) for all that they wish to rule over: I know it when I see it
(I'm calling out their hypocrisy/lies when it benefits their cause)
I wasn’t trying to be nuanced, I just have no idea what they’re talking about.
What is the law about?
Is it for or against unisex bathrooms. Terribly written incomplete article.
Dear Pepsi:
I can live without you.
I’m sorry, as I recall, it was about restroom use (perhaps also locker/gym).
Use being defined as ones “at birth” sex versus ones ‘perceived’ sex, (either on a day to day or if one is in transition or considering such).
As I recall, the new law basically states: born a male, use a male restroom, born a female use a female restroom.
The article made a presumption of previous knowledge (as did I, sorry again).
To answer your question: the new law is AGAINST unisex (or there wouldn’t be opposition from LGBT factions).
I don’t believe it applied to those who had gone through a complete physical sex change.
disclaimer: there have been a few of these case recently and in different states, I trust that I’ve been correct here.
I’ll check again tomorrow and reply if I’m wrong... gotta do the horizontal stretch now regain my height.
g’night
Thanks for that, and no problem.
I still get a headache trying to make sense of the first senrence in that article.
Double double negatives or something.
Bedtime for me, too.
I can live without you.
Huh?
North Carolina signed into law that the bathrooms must be accessible to the sex you feel you really are, not what your genitalia defines you as.
So as a man if I say I was born a woman I must be allowed to use the women's bathroom.
The Pepsi CEO is trying to get Pepsi exempted from that law.
So are you saying to think the law is a good one? Or are you just confused as to what the article was about?
It appears that I was correct in my late night reply to our mutual late night discussion...
I saw an afternoon ‘news’ report, believe it was nbc, so you should probably be able to pick up the ‘news’ channel’s view on the situation tonight (or tomorrow since I’ve found most of the week-end news is re-hashed on Monday).
(there’s either no news on the week-end or no news on Monday)
here’s one link from a very non conservative paper:
Thanks for that. Finally someone stated the case in English.
So, having men’s and women’s restrooms discriminates against LGBT?
Perfect.
You’re welcome
Sadly, I think that those who promote/support the uni sex restroom, also support/promote unisex school GYM locker rooms along with other public facilities.
I recall colleges promoting mixed sex dorms/lav/showers but have no idea what became of the concept (unless it’s the current crop of legislators and legislation).
(may I also include that ‘uni sex’ was coined back in the 60’s and those of the 60’s are somewhat in elected office/teaching or have taught)
