Donald Trump Lists Top Three Functions of Government: ‘Security, Security, Security,’
Breitbart ^ | 3/30/16 | Alex Swoyer

GOP frontrunner Donald Trump said the top three functions of the United States government are security, healthcare, and education.

During CNN’s town hall in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Tuesday night, an audience member asked Trump, “What are the top three functions of the United States government?”

“Security for our nation,” Trump responded. “I would also say healthcare… [and] education.”

“The top three are security, security, security,” Trump stressed, saying America needs security “so we can continue to exist as a country.”

“Thousands and thousands of people are infiltrating our country,” the real estate mogul explained. “We don’t know who they are.”

On top of security, Trump added, “Healthcare, education would be probably three that would be top.”

“Our military has been eaten away,” Trump explained.

He also added that “Housing [and] providing great neighborhoods” is a function of the government.

Establishment Globalists make that dishonest argument. But, you cannot show me that in his Position Statement

More like its you who are adding federal Government exclusively to the question. When it includes the states as its supposed to hes very consistent with his turning health care and education back to the State Governments.

During CNN’s town hall in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Tuesday night, an audience member asked Trump, “What are the top three functions of the United States government?”

“Security for our nation,” Trump responded. “I would also say healthcare… [and] education.”

So the question clearly was what Trump thought the functions of the United States government was. You’re putting words into his mouth and trying to explain”what he really meant.” It wasn’t a gotcha question either

Your attempts to spin for him are falling flat. Like another freeper said, Obama supporters are deep skeptics compared to Trump supporters

And stomping your feet and screaming “Globalist, GOPe, Cruz,” or other defense mechanisms Trumpers use to excuse his follies

That was a softball question... Any person running for the office of president especially for the Republican Party should know every word of our United States Constitution, backwards and forwards.

It would be nice to see that in every candidate and government official, wouldn't it?

But how many who take an oath of fealty to the constitution really know it at that level?

Very few, I suspect.

Obama claims to be a constitutional scholar so obviously a president's familiarity with the constitution isn't a guarantee of constitutional government.

After our experiences the last 27 years, especially the last 7 years, I would add that it doesn't seem to matter if a president can recite the constitution himself.

They all have plenty of legal scholars and advisors to spell out every clause and amendment.

What matters more is his fidelity to his oath of office to defend the constitution, willingness to abide by the letter and intent of constitution, and the ethical fortitude to eschew rationalizing loopholes and other ways of justifying unconstitutional actions.

Trump talks in shorthand.

I don’t think he meant govt would build up its current role in education and healthcare.

Based on his previous statements (against Common Core), I think Trump means his administration would tear down govt/s role in education and healthcare.

“But how many who take an oath of fealty to the constitution really know it at that level?”

It is the preamble.....

“Obama claims to be a constitutional scholar so obviously a president’s familiarity with the constitution isn’t a guarantee of constitutional government.”

Obama should not be the rule, but the exception as to knowledge of the constitution.

Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.

Trading freedom for security gets you neither.

I don't think he meant...

It's a good thing we have Freepers available to tell us what Trump means.

It's going to be a VERY busy four years for you though.

Trump also said “providing housing and good neighborhoods” is a primary function of the federal government and “many, many, many things.” Trump obviously has no concept on the limited role of the federal government in a constitutional Republic.

The government has no role in education or healthcare

Wishful thinking and totally wrong.

The Federal government role in education and healthcare is through the States. The states themselves can determine how much they want or want not to get involved in education and healthcare.

We currently have a president who absolutely FAILS at that one task

From his actions, a reasonable person can only conclude he wishes to fail at the task of defending the security of the country. Almost everything he has done over the past seven-plus years seems to be directed at making us less secure.

[Health care and education? The federal gov does have an important role, in protecting our personal control over our minds and bodies. If those rights aren’t restored, they’re gone for good. ]

That’s not what Trump said though. He said top FUNCTIONS of the federal government include providing housing and good neighborhoods, education, healthcare, and many, many, many things! That is not a limited government position, nor is it what is outlined in the Constitution!

Describe exactly how these functions are suppose to occur? Trump speaks over your head.... The federal government presently prevents growth and kills jobs. The federal government with the full help of RINOs have all but destroy health care... Trump is for removing government overlords and allow we the people to take care of ourselves, by job creation.... you people are in over your heads.

So we should ignore his previous statements in support of socialized medicine and the individual mandate though...

1. Establish Justice.

2. Insure Domestic Tranquility.

3. Provide for the Common Defense.

No system of government devised by the mind of man could ever improve on those top three functions.

Who said anything about Cruz supporters? Donald Trump gave a bad answer. A really bad, non-conservative answer. It is fun watching his followers twist into pretzels about it though.
