Ted Cruz declined to answer a question on Monday about whether he has ever been unfaithful to his wife Heidi.

'Senator Cruz,' DailyMail.com asked him, 'can you please swat down more definitively this National Enquirer piece by telling us on the record that you've never been unfaithful to your wife?'

The National Enquirer published a story last Wednesday that speculated about five women with whom the Republican presidential candidate was rumored to have had extramarital affairs.

Cruz has batted down the specifics of the story on numerous occasions since it appeared in supermarket checkout lanes.

But instead of making a blanket declaration that he has been faithful during the entirety of his 14-year marriage – a move that would effectively end the vicious news cycle – Cruz stood silently as campaign surrogate Carly Fiorina leapt in to intercept the question and change the subject.

WOW VIDEO. Cruz is now hiding behind his new mommy Fiorina’s skirt while refusing to directly state that he has never been unfaithful to his wife.

Wow, that was bad. Cruz's weak response was similar to Gary Hart when he was posed the same question after the "Monkey Business" philandering.

He didn't answer the question and came back with the old "focus on what's important to the American people."

If there was any question about Cruz's zipper problem, this press conference should have answered it for all but the most delusional.

This could also be why Cruz stated he would not make Bill Clinton's activities an issue. Cruz knew this story was coming and Cruz would be found out to be a complete hypocrite to his supporters if he attacked Bill Clinton. We all thought Cruz was missing the point, but Cruz knew why he didn't want to make Bill Clinton an issue in the campaign. It is starting to make sense now.

I can entirely agree with this part of your post (though I'm not sure that any of the people you seem to refer to are informed by Epicurus - or that HE had it all 'down pat' ;-).

However: I like my candidates to be honest, open, and maybe sorta truly CHRISTIAN when it comes to admitting their 'dirtiness'.

Trump supporters (ts)=hypocrites. You know Cruz denied having affairs but ts don't care. Trump supporters worried he didn't dot his “i”. Everyone knows this is all about politics and trump trying to shave points off of Cruz. So everything we hear bad about his opponents ts will not just believe but continue to spread as truth. What if someone wanted to destroy you and said you were a child molester. Now prove you're not? Trumps must win so he has to destroy whoever gets in his way and ts are ok with that. Trump supporters called cruz a liar about the Iowa win but if you were fair you would look at the time line on CNN and the anchor saying Carson says he's not going to the next states but going home. Then he tells the media he would be making an announcement at 9:00. What does that sound like to you? If this was trump who did this ts would completely understand.

The fact that trump bragged about having multiple affairs with married women doesn't bother ts. The fact that his wife posed nude doesn't matter to ts. Trump opening Trump Scores strip clubs doesn't matter even to ts who call themselves Christian. Trump supporters want the man even if he lies, cheats, uses women for his own pleasure, takes advantage of strippers who many were likely victims of child sexual abuse. This is a big part of why our country is in trouble. The American idol guy and pant suit lady needs to win and all decency is out the window. Trump is wonderful because he says outrageous things and we're mad. If fact maybe he won't defend the constitution but he's going to make America great! Like hope and change.
