THE DELEGATE RACE MATH ~ 35% of the primary election race remains.
Trump won 7,825,264 votes -> 755 delegates.
T.Cruz won 5,737,119 votes -> 465 delegates.
~~Countdown to 1237 delegates~~
There are 895 hard delegates remaining of which some are free/soft delegates. Some delegates have already been won by other candidates. We have 808 new delegates 'up for grabs' in the upcoming races.
Donald Trump: 755 delegates won. He must win 482 more delegates to reach 1237. That is 59% of the 808 remaining hard delegates. He may lose 397 more delegates & still win 1237.
Ted Cruz: 465 delegates won. He must win 772 more delegates to reach 1237. That is 96% of the 808 remaining hard delegates. He may lose 36 more delegates & still win 1237.
The current rules set a goal of reaching a simple majority of the delegates combined with a majority win of eight state delegations. When no candidate earns the majority of delegates, the rules change significantly.
Cruz will win on the second ballot and Trump will be too embarrassed to even return to reality TV.Not long ago you people were bragging about the secret army marching from Iowa, through the south and on to victory...Now you've been reduced to hoping for a win on the second ballot.
If your wet dream comes true your nightmare will begin (again) with Hillary/Bernie (insert name here) whipping the wimp like a rented mule IF he can prove his eligibility, which he will never live down no matter what any kangaroo court says...Oh and there won't be anymore "second ballots". The Democrats invented voter fraud so you won't be able to rely on that anymore either.
Good luck.
And frankly, I hope that happens. Because the GOP will be extinct if they pull their planned stunt!
They seem to think they can get away with it AGAIN, but what they are failing to realize is they’ve ‘negotiated’ away so much these last 7 years...more than just the conservative base will walk out.
As far as I am concerned, they are taking the poison pill that will kill the nation.
“Sorry....meant to send to LARRY!!!”
Dang. Friendly fire .. LOL
That sounds about right.
No. That would be a brokered convention.
A contested convention is more akin to a Convention of States. The states send delegates elected by the people. The delegates vote. You ain't against States' Rights, are ya?
Winner, winner; chicken dinner!!
(The sign, that is)
“Something happens to Trump,” eh?
Well that’s likely farther down on the list in the playbook.
It’s be the GOPe / Cheap Labor Express version of Arkancide.
I do. They're also part of a crazy inbred cult called Mormonism.
“I guess you consider almost 70% of the voters in Utah the retard wing.”
You mean 70% of caucus goers. The vast majority of voters don’t participate in caucuses. Far more voters participate in straight primaries, which gives a much better representation of the true people’s choice.
Yep, Cruz is nothing but an establishment stooge. Those supporting this guy are nothing but dupes for the insiders. Most of which are connected to the corrupt payroll in one form or another. Profits and power regardless of consequences.
It’s what has left America all be dead on the floor.
Cruz can not deliver any electorally rich states other than Texas.
What does Utah have -6-?
Something related but unrelated occurred to me.
Winston Churchill was born to an American mother, outside of the US.
Was he a natural born citizen of the US?
We know well that later became an “honorary citizen”. But that’s not what I’m talking about.
I suppose the answer to that question lies in the citizenship of his mother at the time he was born. Since she married into nobility, probably she became a UK citizen at that time? I just don’t know. But it occurred to me and it is interesting.
Only Hillary would benefit from a contested convention.
Or not. Something else could happen.
I didn’t say stealing. You did.
Keep telling yourself that it will be ok for Cruz to slime his way to a second ballot nomination (which the GOPe won’t let happen anyway). It’s nice to know that you support the same kind of dirty pool the establishment and Democrats play. It will make staying home in November that much easier if Cruz does manage to pull it off.
Doncha know? That is what "Conservatives" are all about! Don't like the fact that they can't get rid of that firmly ensconced dummycrat representative? Stomp your feet and cry like a baby for an Article V convention to change the rules and institute term limits. Pi$$ and moan about big government, unless of course, it's a "Conservative" big government, then it's ok. Don't like the candidate that the people chose in the primary? Stomp & cry like a little female dog and get the rules changed. THAT, my FRiend, is what true "Conservatism" is about.
At this point you are nothing more than a Romneybot.
You should go back to posting at Ted State.
Ditto that, but he does the party and the people a disservice the longer he stays. If his goal is to win at any costs and involves strong arming delegates and changing rules to enable his win, his final loss will be incredibly embarrassing.
The deals are no longer secret with the advent of social media. We will hear within seconds of the deceits that they plan to conspire. The Smoky Backroom at the convention will be getting a great deal of sunshine.
The eGOP will not pick Cruz if they have a contested convention where they can pick anybody.
Exactly.
Establishment GOPe is using Cruz and his supporters to get a contest convention where the rules change drastically. Cruz will have done his part and useful tool fan club will have handed the establishment another victory.
Congrats!
> “Cruz has no obligation to do anything he doesnt want to do...unless of course hes concerned about his political future...with his last moves, it doesnt appear he is.”
Consider that Ted is out of hard money. Soft money commitments from PACS can be withdrawn. Hard money from small donors has ebbed and flowed but in any case has been gobbled up by the awful people he hired to run his national campaign.
Consider that Ted had to disclose the large personal loan from Goldman Sachs because he needed to pay it off with hard money before his campaign management scarfed it up.
Consider that Ted has gone to the dark side of the GOP establishment precisely because his campaign could not continue without their resources.
Ted has touted his large fundraising achievements and he has indeed had such notable achievements. But the burn rate set by his campaign management is unsustainable. His managers assuredly drove him to establishment resources and now he is under their control acting as their tool.
So it may actually be that Ted Cruz is indeed greatly worried about his future in politics. At this juncture it appears he has burned too many bridges to continue in any capacity beyond US Senator from Texas.
