Cruz: "It is striking that the day after Donald Trump called for America weakening NATO withdrawing from NATO we see Brussels, where NATO is headquartered, the subject of a radical Islamist terrorist attack."
Cruz supporters: "How dare you say Cruz is blaming Trump for Brussels? Cruz said no such thing."

I seriously believe that Ted Cruz may well have lost Utah today. We’ll see. Their polls close in eight hours.

What makes you think so? I hope he DOES loose in Utah, and everyplace else for that matter, but I’m curious to hear why YOU thing he may have lost Utah.

Three LDS missionaries were victims in the attack.
Sad to see Cruz attack a fellow Republican with laser-like focus in the wake of such tragedy at the hands of Islamists.
And before any Cruz people reply to me, yes, I know “the reporter asked him”. He’s not a helpless baby (one would hope), and could have chosen to respond without making it all about how terrible Donald Trump is.

1. Brussels. Ted has been denouncing Trump over the Muslims and the attacks in Brussels illustrate why Trump is right.
2. Three LDS missionaries were injured in the Brussels attacks. That literally hits home for the Mormons who were told to support Cruz.
3. I just don’t trust the polls that have been saying that Cruz will win Utah. They were wrong in Michigan and I think they may well be wrong in Utah.

Meh. Cruz is desperate. He knows he’s all but lost, and will do anything he can if it thinks it will give him an advantage. Up to and including allying himself with the “establishment” he claims to be fighting against.
If he had any honor, he’d drop out now.

He isn’t blaming Trump for Brussels. He is saying Trump won’t be as strong and effective as he, Cruz, would be.
Its an election year. Trump needs to say that he will be stronger and more effective and Cruz needs to say the same thing in reverse.
Between the two of them there is striking agreement, so all that is left is for them to argue about who will be rougher and tougher.
I listened to both of their speeches at AIPAC, and was well impressed by both of them. Then someone forced me to listen to Clinton’s speech. It was like nails on chalkboard...
It is instructive, to me, that while most people in attendance no doubt voted for Clinton and Obama, Trump and Cruz were getting widespread standing o’s over and over.
Makes me optimistic for November.

I readily admit that Crafty Cruz is good at spinning language or letting others, like Beck, speak for him so that “he never said that!” can be used to deny intent.

Reminds me of a verse: first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye. Cruz was commenting on the (striking) irony: Trump calls for less funds and we have this attack. Bad form on Cruz? Yep. Don't ever use tragedy to attack an opponent. Did he "blame" Trump? Not even close. And if you think he somehow is, you are the one who is blinded by your hatred of Cruz.
To: M. Thatcher
It is truly sad to see Ted Cruz go off on this tangent. He has abandoned his strict constructionist view--which I shared fully--by embracing the Bill Clinton foreign policy, as demonstrated in the Clinton/Blair escapade against Serbian unity, for the purpose of keeping NATO more relevant, and perhaps making it into the substitute for the "Atlantic Union" project against American sovereignty.
Cruz seemed to have been made of better stuff. His anti-Trump antics over the past month are a big disappointment. I hope that at some point, he will reconsider. It is one thing to contest an election; quite another to compromise your integrity & principles as a tactic.

If Cruz can’t get to 50% it is about as good as a big loss when AZ is added in.
To: MeganC
I think Utah will go more against Trump than for Cruz, at the very least Trump will break even.
BTW, I just heard that its been reported that 10 of the Brussels fatalities were Mormons. Might sway voting.
