Donald J. Trump routed Senator Marco Rubio in Florida on Tuesday, driving him from the Republican presidential race, and easily won the primaries in Illinois and North Carolina, amassing a formidable delegate advantage that will be exceedingly difficult for any rival to overcome.
But with a victory in Ohio, his home state, Gov. John Kasich denied Mr. Trump one of the nights biggest prizes and made it considerably harder for him to clinch the nomination outright.
Senator Ted Cruz of Texas finished second in Illinois and North Carolina and was locked in a tight race with Mr. Trump in Missouri, ensuring that he, too, would earn a share of delegates.

Trump won Florida 99, Illinois 69, Missouri 52, North Carolina 72, & the Northern Marianas 9 today.
That’s five states and territories.
Where are they getting the three figure?
They had Hillary winning just four and must not have wanted to show her up.
He still won five states/territories.
Two things:
First of all, Marco Rubio instructed his people to vote for Kasich. This is illustrated by the very tiny percentage Rubio got. In turn, Kasich wouldn’t instruct his people to vote for Rubio in Florida.
Second of all, I heard on TV before I went to vote that the Republican turn out was up 3-1 over the Democrats, BUT they talked to those people, and they were Democrats crossing over to vote against Trump.
This infuriates me, and I believe Ohio absolutely must close their primaries. I believe all states should. Why would you want people from another party crossing over at the last second to, in effect, render useless votes of people of your party?
At this point, a ballsy, GOPe alternative is still too likely because Trump is likely not to get 1237.
Good news is it’s mostly by far closed primaries here on out and mostly winner take all
I see Trump over 1300 easy
whatever the stupid reason, Kasich needs to go. It is obvious at this point (and actually completely embarrassing for him) that he is staying for some, dumb self serving reason—either narcissism and/or establishment serving reasons. Either way he just looks like a selfish dork that is soon to be a clown if ever on stage with Trump and Cruz. He already was one the last debate.
Trump also took the vast majority of the counties in Missouri so add that to the 12 delegates for the win and it was YUGE!
yes. I’ve never understood this as well. Very self defeating as a party.
Yep. Even though Rush is on our side, after Operation Chaos, you would think it is something both parties should do. If people want to cross over, they should have to register a certain length of time ahead of time. I would say prior to the start of the primary season. That will prevent this. It’s not fair and skews results.
Kasich was acting like he won the nomination. He’s an idiot.
Cruz on the supreme court...after he claimed Trump’s hate speech caused the left to be violent? That comes close to saying Trump is yelling fire in a crowded theater because he spoke politically incorrectly. Banning free speech as they have done in Europe is a big globalist goal in the US.
Heard one of Obama’s sons on the radio yesterday. He said he would never vote for a Republican for President, but he was voting for Kasich. That’s an open primary for ya.
I see that Missouri has given Trump 15 delegates. No other candidates have received delegates there. Wow! That’s a win for me!
Go Trump!
It was a big meme on FB early this week.
People were advocating that everyone vote for Kasich to stop Trump. This appears to be almost like a RICO action to me.
A complete and utter idiot. This guy is either a complete, establishment tool or a completely delusional narcissist. Either way I hope he packs up his little legos and his playpen and goes home to his small pond.
Love your wording above. Captures it all so well.
