John Kasich: If I win Ohio, GOP will get a "brokered convention"
CBS news ^ | 3/4 | Reena Flores

After Thursday's Republican debate, where Donald Trump dominated much of the conversation, Ohio Gov. John Kasich laid out his path forward to the GOP nomination, predicting that a contested convention this summer will eventually stop Trump's rise.

"Frankly, if I win Ohio, we're probably gonna end up in a convention -- a brokered convention -- and then we're gonna find out who the adult is," Kasich said Thursday in an interview with CBS News' chief White House correspondent Major Garrett. The last time Republicans were close to a "brokered" convention, where no candidate has a clear-cut delegate victory, was in the 1976 primary between Gerald Ford and Ronald Reagan.

"We don't have many states to be voting in," Kasich acknowledged, but he believes that "we'll hold our own in Mississippi, we'll hold our own in Michigan." He predicted, however, that he would not win Michigan.

He added: "And then we're gonna win in Ohio. It'll be a whole new ball game."

Not really. Setting the ROVE BAR so low a douchebag could jump over it with his pants around his ankles.

“The only socialist running on the Republican ticket.”

Oh, please. That’s the kind of reckless exaggeration that has splintered FR and the conservative movement.

If he does win and stays in, that (to quote Ted) “utterly” ends everyone else’s campaign.

Yes, big if, but if Johnny Mailbags wins Ohio, this will signal a big momentum swing away from Trump...if the others stay in with a somewhat diminished Trump, an unsettled convention is a greater possibility...not impossible, but still unlikely at this moment!

...paving the way for Romney 2.0 and Rubio 1.0. The dream ticket (that will lose for the 3rd time).

Ah yes, John Kasich, the man who told the woman at his event that he was somewhere between Sanders and Clinton.

Understood. My point is that Kasich’s premise is wrong. Evev if he were able to win in Ohio, a Trump victory in FL will mean that there will be no brokered convention.

Socialist may be an exaggeration, but it isn’t an exaggeration to say I won’t vote for a bake the cake sellout.

Not happening. Lindsey Graham said if Trump has plurality, he will be nominee.

If he doesn’t will he STFU?

He said there would be no reason to stay in if he didn't win Ohio, so in effect, yes.

In his dreams. Trump can lose quite a few states and still make it to 1237

I read this in another article. “I’ve got to connect with people. And you know, frankly, it’s not even connecting. I just want to be kind to people.”

I’d like for Kasich to realize that he’s a dbag to certain people. My daughter waitressed at country clubs when she was freshly out of college and looking for her career job. She grew up respecting Kasich, as I had taught her. Her encounter with him as a waitress changed all that. He was rude to the waitstaff at the fancy smancy place where she worked. This was when he was running for governor the first time. She changed her mind about him that very day, and so did I. He’s your typical entitled politician.

A real “Rules for thee, but not for me” type.

After agreeing with the Romney missed bullet that he was to hit Trump with and hit the GOPe and RNC instead, I don’t think you have a chance at dog catcher!!!

“This clown has all the leadership of a caboose and would be an even worse choice than when Reagan picked Bush. “

I think GHWB being VP was “forced upon” Ronald Reagan as the “Price” for their “support.” Just think how much better the Reagan Presidency would have been without GHWB! He should have had a VP who wanted to carry on his programs, instead he got someone who went to work on day one as president to destroy them. BUSH is a four-letter word!
