After Thursday's Republican debate, where Donald Trump dominated much of the conversation, Ohio Gov. John Kasich laid out his path forward to the GOP nomination, predicting that a contested convention this summer will eventually stop Trump's rise.
"Frankly, if I win Ohio, we're probably gonna end up in a convention -- a brokered convention -- and then we're gonna find out who the adult is," Kasich said Thursday in an interview with CBS News' chief White House correspondent Major Garrett. The last time Republicans were close to a "brokered" convention, where no candidate has a clear-cut delegate victory, was in the 1976 primary between Gerald Ford and Ronald Reagan.
"We don't have many states to be voting in," Kasich acknowledged, but he believes that "we'll hold our own in Mississippi, we'll hold our own in Michigan." He predicted, however, that he would not win Michigan.
He added: "And then we're gonna win in Ohio. It'll be a whole new ball game."

That’s a pretty big IF.
The only socialist running on the Republican ticket.
Don’t worry Jonny. We here in OH will take care of it so you don’t have to trouble your little head.
And if the GOp gets a brokered convention, America will get demonrat super majorites and Hellary Clinton.
Not if Trump wins FL.
If Rubio loses FLA Kasich could win a brokered convention.
No John, then we are going to learn how many outraged voters can flood Cleveland and surround Quicken Loans Arena next July.
If he doesn’t will he STFU?
Lets deny the overwhelming voice of democracy in our party and wish for assassination of Trump by broker, so we can install “Mr. Rogers” to totally destroy the republican party which will be rejected by 35,000,000 new voters in total rebellion.Great idea Ksick.
In fact, if Johnny doesn't win, it just means curtains for his POTUS campaign. Cruz would have been laughed off the stage if he had made a similar comment about Texas.
John must be looking at the same secret polls that Marco is looking at.

I think the GOPe would be happy to lose and stay in their current position, i.e. in office, in power with the party, and they’ll just keep telling everyone how we’ve just got to “keep on trying” to beat those Dems, ha.
Hahahahahahahahahahaha! John’s such a corker.
Since the GOPe is spending so much time trying to figure out how to ignore the votes of millions of Trump supporters, perhaps it is a good idea for Trump voters to figure out what they are going to do when the GOPe screws them over.
Stupid FReepers are already touting Kasich as a "viable" VP for Trump. This clown has all the leadership of a caboose and would be an even worse choice than when Reagan picked Bush.
The IF I’m speaking of is Kasich winning Ohio.
The professional political class in both parties are in a panic. The People are not going along this time.
The Democrats, with their super delegates, have a better tool for subverting the will of the People but the Republicans are in for a food fight that will not end well for the GOP.
Will the GOP go the way of the Whigs or will a new Bull Moose failure bring down the Republic once and for all?
Now do you understand why we hate this narcissist?
And Congress handed Cleveland several million dollars to prepare for the convention, and looky there - lots of riot gear.
“Lets deny the overwhelming voice of democracy in our party”
**************
That could well be the motto of the GOP.
