How panicked should we be about the rise of Donald Trump? A professor at Harvard, Danielle Allen, recently published a widely shared op-ed piece in the Washington Post likening his rise to that of Hitler...
...such Hitler hype has happened before, and been unwarranted. Steven Hayward, author of The Age of Reagan, recalls the rhetoric:
Democratic Rep. William Clay of Missouri charged that Reagan was trying to replace the Bill of Rights with fascist precepts lifted verbatim from Mein Kampf.

Did you realize the National Review anti-Trump issue says Trump's immigration proposals are too liberal?
That’s surprising since NR had no problems with supporting Mr Amnesty himself, John McCain.
Yes, the “media” and its allies in the GOP-E used the same crapweasal accusations against Barry Goldwater in 1964 - some garbage about not denouncing the John Birch Society which barely existed. They were in league with Rockefeller, Scranton and Romney’s father who proceeded to do everything they could to destroy Goldwater after he was nominated. Interesting that we now have Romney Jr., Bush Jr. and the execrable Paul Ryan who are doing exactly the same thing, according to playbook. I wouldn’t be surprised to see some support and money sent flying from these “Republicans’ to Hillary Clinton.
Fascism can not exist without an all powerful and massive government.
They STILL don’t realize that the more they put out shit like this all it does is harden trumps support.
Ive listened to a lot of radio today and I’ve heard people calling in to various shows. They’re angry and it’s getting worse with all this crap flying around.
Societies under heavy stress often give rise to dictators or messiahs. Fidel Castro was seen as a liberator, even in the US, from the harsh Batista regime. I remember guys in high school talking about going to Cuba and signing up to “fight for Castro.” Hitler is only the most obvious example. There have been many more. Some good, some not.
Yeah, but back then it was liberal Democrats who were issuing those warnings.
But now true conservatives are issuing them, and they're worth listening to.
(And yes, I'll vote for Trump against Hillary, but I'll be holding my nose while praying that Divine Providence leads him along the proper path to restore liberty in America.)
I for one don’t think Trump is a closet fascist (though he does exhibit some authoritarian tendencies). I just don’t believe he’s intent on making good on his promises.. especially the “negotiable” ones.
Ditto here. Once the nomination is decided, and if it's Trump, he's going to have to be dragged across the finish line.
What is “fascism”, anyway? It is just another face of socialism, the mindless binding together of vast legions of people who use their “democratic” base as a means to achieve tyranny.
The “tyranny of the majority” is used as an excuse to totally suppress any minority dissident voices.
“Fascism” is often confused and conflated with “capitalism”, and in one sense, that may be true, if the widely despised “crony capitalism” is judged to be the only form of capitalism that exists. Fascism combines the corporations and state into the “corporate state”, with the state not actually owning the means of production and distribution outright, but with an iron control over even the most intimate and minute details of the inside operation of the corporation. Corporations exist only for the distribution of the fruits of production to be handed out in an “equitable” manner to ALL people, whether they are productively employed by the corporation or not, with the state being the arbiter of what is “equitable”.
Sounds just about like the system in place in the territory once known as “the United States of America” already.
Reagan wasn’t a pathological liar, misogynist, serial adulterer and could explain why he left the Democrat Party. Trump on the other hand can’t explain or won’t explain what made him suddenly become a Conservative. The best answer you can get is “You’re a loser!” Sadly such playground intellect appeals to far too many.
The vitriol agains’t Trump is now nearing hysteria. I expect it to die down some after he wins big tonight then all but wraps the nomination up on the 15th. At that point the fat lady will be singing.
I don’t recall a Reagan University fraud lawsuit either.
Same old shi’ite..

In the minds of your average leftist (and moderates are leftists that just can’t admit it), anyone to the right of Pol Pot is a fascist.
They are. Trump's touchback amnesty will produce millions of future Democrats.
