The theme music from Harrison Ford's movie 'Air Force One' blared over loudspeakers in a rural Tennessee airport hangar, and minutes later a less presidential noise wafted over a hot mic.
'Get in the plane and go home. It's over there. Go home.'
That was Donald Trump, the Republican presidential front-runner, telling his newest endorser Chris Christie in front of 12,000 people exactly where to go and how to get there.
Christie had just sung The Donald's praises following the dramatic entrance of his plane in a stunt the campaign invented a month ago in Dubuque, Iowa.
And more importantly, he had trashed Marco Rubio.
The boyish Florida senator who has given Trump his share of heartburn in recent days, Christie told thousands clumped shoulder-to-shoulder, 'said he's gonna work as hard as he can as long as he can to win the Republican nomination.'
'That would be something new for Marco Rubio to show up to work at all!'
'How about a refund, Senator Rubio?' he asked of the senator who has skipped more hearings on Capitol Hill than he's attended in five years on the job.
Christie and Trump had strode down a set of tarmac stairs from what Rubio now calls 'Hair Force One' to the strains of Marc Cohn's 'Walking in Memphis,' a hat tip to the music city just a half hour's drive away.
A deafening roar set the scene. Christie knocked young Marco out of the park. And then Trump showed him the back of his hand.
It was, as one Twitter wag opined, the political political equivalent of leaving the money on the nightstand.

I didn't doubt it, but thanks for the video anyway. Absolutely that was a "job well done" send off. Definitely culture difference there reading that any other way. Don "released" him from any further duty in a very emphatic and thanking way. To spin this any other way is like the "no answers in that one" deal the Cruz folks tried to put on Rubio. LOL
I heard the comment and you are exactly right. Trump offered Christie the use of his plane as a gift. That was obvious in his tone of voice. The parenthetical addition to the title is an intentional lie.
You lie.
Daily Mail is scum for twisting this. Trump had a private plane ready for Christie and wanted him to get back to his family and his job.
British shit piece - again - whenever it is to their supposed advantage.
I don’t think the article twisted the story. The FR poster’s commentary and title adjustment bear responsibility.
The headline writer is also deceitful.
If Trump had not wanted Christie there, then he wouldn't have been there. To make it sound like Christie was following Trump around like a dog he couldn't shake is ridiculous.
Just over the county line in Mississippi. Regret it didn’t go
The equivalent of “There’s not a lot of answers in there.” The context makes clear that the exact opposite was what was said or intended in both cases. Only an idiot couldn’t see that immediately.
That’s EXACTLY what I thought when I heard him.
I thought he sounded concerned and wanted Christie to get home, be with his family, and get some rest.
I couldn’t believe that someone thought it was anything else.
Im sure he knew the mic might be open.
He got what he needed.

Trump is meticulous You will see why if you watch this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vF1JDNOLaYg
I’d have to agree with that. The hangar was packed and more people coming in! I read the hangar can hold 19-20000 standing; guess the press area took up room for 1000.
Pretty much what Trump will say to Republicans voters once he gets elected.....
Yes this BS. Christie and Trump are friends. I watched this stuff today and Trump was glad to have Christie backing him up. The died never happened.
Or, thanks, great job. Now get out of here and get back home. No need to stay away from home any longer. There’s my plane, we got ya covered.
I often tell people to go home in a positive way.
Christie may have had to get back to NJ or the plane schedule was tight. I doubt Trump “gave him the back of his hand” as these globalist reporters proclaim.
London is freaking out about Trump winning so far. Trump has slapped the EU and Germany for allowing the invasion of Muslims. A lot of countries that have been screwing us are up in arms at the idea that America will mess up globalist plans and routines. This is good news!
you’re wrong. Trump would sell both parents, so stop the nonsense.
and Trump patting him on the back and told him where the plane was and “go home” isn’t an insult.
basically means, you did your part thanks, goodnight.
So.... Trump offered Christie the use of his luxury jet airliner so he could return home ? Sounds like a sweet deal.
