Republican presidential hopeful John Kasich said on Saturday that he will drop out of the race if he doesn't win his home state of Ohio.
"I will beat Donald Trump in Ohio, and that will be the beginning of a new day," Kasich told a crowd in Nashville, according to the New York Times.
"Some of the other candidates, if they can't win their home state, they got to get out, OK?" he added. "If I don't win my home state, I'll get out. But you know what? I'm going to win Ohio."
The remark was a dig at his rival Marco Rubio who is trailing Trump by 16 points in his home state of Florida, according to a recent Quinnipiac University poll.
Ohio goes to the polls on March 15. Another Quinnipiac poll puts Trump ahead of Kasich in Ohio by 5 percentage points, just outside the poll's margin of error, but the governor has insisted that he will have no problem winning the state.
Finally, something Kasich and I agree on.
Bye, bye Kasich. Maybe Trump will make you Postmaster General.
You will Kasich, polls indicate that. So quit wasting other peoples money.
The last debate was so bad, I was glad when Kasich got to speak. It shut down the Cuban harpies for a short time.
The day of reckoning approaches.
I’m sure Dr. Ben will continue, daydreaming from one collection of cameras to the other.
IF Trump does win Ohio, I wouldn’t be shocked if Kasich ends up endorsing Trump at some point. If Kasich still has national aspirations, endorsing Trump would be his only move.
Soros contributed to Kasich campaign, along with Bush insiders:

The Low Talker
If only Jeb! had stayed in he’d be in prime position to eat Kasich’s leftovers.
Not a happy time to be living in Ohio.Kasich is coming back!
He’s giving people an added incentive to vote against him.
Carson will deliver a surprise on Tuesday. Numbers have him leading in Colorado.
CARSON City on their minds, maybe?
Guess who’s dropping out Wednesday morning.
Cruz thinks, man with his support I could break 15% again. This may just be my big break.
That break, was a mental break with reality, about a week back.
That is a shock. He will lose real bad to Trump. Adios now.
I’m in Ohio and he’s going to lose to Trump. The Dems in my Union heavy area can’t wait to vote for him. He’s Hillary with a wall promise.
Maybe Carson does best in cities where there is heavy and regular marijuana consumption. Could there be a link?
I agree. I thought Kasich was pretty much hands off with Trump at the last debate.
Ohio is now a purple state and Kasich isn’t loved, but he is largely liked. In a presidential election, Ohio will support a favorite son.
I think Carson, though, is probably a better pick. He appeals to Christians, he’s black, and he has three states in his background he calls home, Michigan, Florida, and Maryland.
He’s been brushing up on his foreign policy, too.
My favorite pick, though, would be Sheriff Clarke from Milwaukee.
It looks like John will be missed. Not. I was hoping he managed to hang on until Texas.
