When asked whether he supported South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley’s decision to call for the Confederate battle flag to be taken down from out front of the State Capitol building, Trump said he did.
“I would take it down, yes,” the billionaire real estate mogul said. “I think they should put it in a museum and respect whatever it is you have to respect.”
Then, when asked what woman he would like to see on the new $10 bill, he responded — to laughter — “My mother.”
The questions came after Trump spoke outside his Trump National Golf Club in Virginia. There, Trump reiterated his offer to let President Obama play on the course, but said he hasn’t yet heard back from the White House.

Trumpâs stance is reasonable, but Haleyâs same stance makes her a RINO
Not really comparable; Haley is the governor, and removed the flag by force, all the while crying phony tears and dumping on Confederate legacy...Trump is merely responding to what is for him a completely ancillary question, which has no meaning for him whatsoever...
I’m not a southerner, and I couldn’t care less whether SC flies the so called ‘Confederate flag’ or not...but I thought Haley’s response was chickencrap, deeply disappointing...
“”Trumpâs stance is reasonable, but Haleyâs same stance makes her a RINO....the year of trump Drangement Syndrome continues””
The trump worshippers don’t understand facts and logic.
It don’t matter. Go Trump!
You will see.
As a Southerner and a supporter of the Confederate flag myself, I donât care. I would not expect someone from New York to have much thought about the Confederate flag.”
I agree. I don’t much care if Trump, or anyone else, has an affinity for the confederate flag, so long as they don’t try to ban me from honoring and displaying same because of some special interest group whining.
I do see that some conservatives are going to sell out beliefs and their souls to get behind a candidate that never supported conservative causes.
Last time I checked, the United States of America had ONE flag representing its UNITED STATES.
An appropriate memorial is that very same UNITED STATES flag.
Feel free to defend Obama’s Nuclear Deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
This was about a particular flag with a particular history of why it had originally been hoisted over the capitol, not about every Confederate flag.
Trump is only giving an opinion. Big whoop. Is there a right and wrong to this issue?
Trump needs to be told that the Confederate flag in question represents anti govt, anti establishment - the exact sentiment that he represents.
America did do the Negro peoples dirty. The amazing thing, though, is that the people who were most guilty (Democrats and Southern Democrats) are now the group that is still exploiting the hurt for grudges’ sake.
I’m for Freedom, Family, Liberty, Life, and Yehovah in the United States of America, a REPUBLIC.
What are your “conservative” values? Division, slavery, warfare, social democracy?
Go visit your precious flag in a museum.
Could you have picked a more pretentious screename? Seriously? You noobies are getting weak.
A government for the people, by the people? You can get the hell out of my party and go sulk in the corner with your wittle flag since you're so anti-people.
Notice that Trump said “put it in a museum and respect it”. He didn’t say “ban it from existence and write it completely out of history because the sight or even the thought of it represents “microagression” to some people and makes their little tummies sick”.
Works for me and I’m a Southerner.
