Jeb Bush, the Republican establishmentâs last, best hope, began his 2016 campaign rationally enough, with a painstakingly collated operational blueprint his team called, with NFL swagger, âThe Playbook.â On page after page kept safe in a binder, the playbook laid out a strategy for a race his advisors were certain would be played on Bushâs terms â an updated, if familiar version of previous Bush family campaigns where cash, organization and a Republican electorate ultimately committed to an electable center-right candidate would prevail. Story Continued Below
The playbook, hatched by Sally Bradshaw, Mike Murphy and a handful of other Bush confidants in dozens of meetings during the first half of 2015 and described to POLITICO by some of Bushâs closest and most influential supporters, appealed to the Bush family penchant for shock-and-awe strategy. The campaign would commence with six months of fundraising for the âRight to Riseâ super PAC and enough muscle to push aside Mitt Romney. There would be a massive, broad-based organizational effort to plant roots in March states at a time when other campaigns were mired in Iowa and New Hampshire. The plan outlined Bushâs positive, future-focused message with an emphasis on his decade-old record of accomplishment as Florida governor.

On to the next one. Hillary is going to get TRUMPED!
The Playbook had a much better chance of success had the racial pandering pages never seen the light of day
Whoever was responsible for those should be permanently banned from politics
If ever there was a monumental failure of the GOP consultant class, this is it.
The first consultant that met Jeb should have begged him not to run. After that it was a forgone disaster.
I agree. Mr. Trump smashed the Clinton myth and defeated the Bush family. Prayers are answered. My person wish is for Kasich to be president, since has loyalty to the Constitution and a good heart.
Spending like only a professional politician could do...
GOP establishment’s post-mortem on Jeb.
No one wanted him.
“Most critically, the playbook...contained nothing about Donald Trump, who would spend the next excruciating year turning Bush into his personal patrician piñata.”
His personal patrician piñata, TOO FUNNY...and oh, so true.
I’d say Mike Murphy is happy .. he failed miserably and yet made a ton of money off Jebbie ..he’s laughing all the way to the bank ...we owe Murphy a big thanks for his stellar work though
” OH THE HUMANITY”.
They had it all, except a candidate.
"I think it's a great country. There are a lot of great families, and it's not just four families or whatever. There are other people out there that are very qualified and we've had enough Bushes," she said.
Donors and consultants would have been wise to listen, although the type of people that donated to Jeb are now out of pocket, so there's that...
“The entire premise of Bushâs candidacy, these insiders tell POLITICO, was an epic misread of a GOP base hostile to any establishment candidate, especially one with his baggage-weighted last name.”
They STILL don’t get it. His name actually didn’t hurt him, but his AMNESTY STANCE absolutely killed him.
It’s ASTOUNDING to think they STILL have not figured this out.
Jeb was out of touch.
His arrogant boast he didn’t need the base to win the nomination proved his undoing.
And he couldn’t even make it to the general election.
The Bush-Clinton matchup the media and Beltway pundits were salivating for won’t happen.
Kasich??? He supports Common Core, expanded Medicare, loves the invasion of the US for its cheap labor, and starves local governments while the state sponges up money for deep-pocket donors. He’s really bad news.
It was the wrong time for Jeb. the voters are looking for a major shakeup in Washington.
Bush FAIL!
Hopefully Hillery fail
Finally ding dong the witch is dead

Dear Jeb!
We want a refund. The product was defective.
Signed,
Your Suckers
