The Marco Rubio campaign is livid Thursday after the Ted Cruz campaign released a website that includes a photoshopped image of their candidate shaking hands with President Barack Obama.
Cruz’s website “The Real Rubio Record” ironically features a very unreal image of Rubio smiling ecstatically while shaking Obama’s hand. “The Rubio-Obama Trade Pact” the text ominously reads, a reference to Rubio’s support for the Trans-Pacific Partnership. The Cruz website also features a photoshopped image of Rubio smiling while leaning on a business sign reading “Closed.”
Among the red flags that the image is fake… who shakes with their left hand? Certainly not the right-handed Rubio.
The Rubio campaign was predictably less than amused. “This is how phony and deceitful the Cruz campaign has become,” Rubio advisor Todd Harris told a gaggle of reporters in South Carolina, while holding up the image in question.
The pushback comes after Cruz faced criticism for what his opponents termed “dirty tricks” in Iowa. In particular, Cruz was criticized for pointing out an official-looking flyer telling voters they faced a “voter violation” unless they voted for him, and for telling supporters to spread a rumor that Ben Carson was dropping out of the race.
UPDATE (11:13 AM): The Cruz campaign doubled down, telling CNN that they believe the image is authentic.

You posted the graphic and supported the lie contained in the graphic.
I was called a “flaming liberal” on this thread.
The buck stops with Ted.
Ted is in charge of his campaign, right? Or isn’t he?
Sometimes I wonder.
Well, well, nice to see you doing the Left’s handiwork by passing along their propaganda. Leftwing nuts from Princeton, who no doubt are hardened Bernie supporters, express their personal political opinion of Cruz. Gee, maybe you could find a nice quote from Lena Dunham or maybe someone like Lois Lerner has an unbiased opinion you could scare up, huh?
Wow, a new low has been breached here at FR.
That's what Trump supporters said a week before Iowa, when Cruz went after Rubio there.
Just pointing that out. You can read whatever you want into it.
You may well disagree with me - I’m sure the more virulent Cruz supporters will - but I think a lot of people are missing an important point:
“It’s just a campaign ad.” Really? I don’t know anyone who is not disgusted by typical negative campaign ads. It’s bad enough that there are so many ads. Then, most of the ads, even if one supports the candidate the ad promotes, you just want to turn off... or go to the restroom...
(I know, terrible sentence structure!)
For as long as I’ve been around, most people I know have concluded from political ads, scandals, and so on, that almost all politicians are untrustworthy or worse. Given that, most people either “turn off” politics for the most part, or (or “and / or”) conclude that they might as well vote for the candidate who they think will personally benefit them the most. They think / feel everything else is just static. Beyond that, most people are not ideologues, and basically “just want the trains to run on time”.
If a Cruz comes along and tries to present himself as “principled”, then engaging in typical politics merely disproves to all but his disciples who he says he is.
Trump, on the other hand, is plainly viewed as a real SOB by most, but 30 to 40% view him as “our SOB”, and at least willing to say what he really thinks. And maybe, people think, he CAN make the trains run on time...
Trump does something else interesting too. In between all the Limbaugh-like talk about how great he is, he slips in a lot of “I don’t know”’s and the like. It’s an effective technique...
Full disclosure: I’m still Trump first, Cruz second, and disappointed with both (for very different reasons), but with nowhere else really to go...
He’s not pro-choice now, and for the last sixteen years has supported a ban on partial birth abortion. Ted deliberately leaves those facts out - and that is the misrepresentation. It’s a half truth. Someone who is supposed to be “the only principled candidate in the race” shouldn’t be using half truths. Someone who writes a book with the title “A Time for Truth” should not be speaking half truths.
Ted should NOT be speaking half truths as if they are the whole truth. Right?
They were Cruz’s classmates at Princeton when they and Ted were there!
Wow!
So now you're rationalizing the made up quote in the image that you posted.
Ted never said, what the photo in your post said he said.
You've not produced one quote from a staffer who said what the photo in your post said they said.
Period.
Oops, that was a boo-boo. Hey dynoman, I like your comparison of the poll numbers. Talk about a 15 point outlier! Hey since we're discussing photoshopping, take a look at this one I posted yesterday. I think it's safe because I used no candidate picture or name. Disclaimer: The people and company names represented are completely fictional. Any likeness to actual people and companies is intentional. |
In the News/Activism forum, on a thread titled Cruz Campaign Pushes Photoshopped Image of Rubio Shaking Hands with Obama, dynoman wrote: |
Cruz’s campaign did that and Ted “the only principled candidate in the race” did nothing about it. Jeff Roe is still pulling crap like that. Is that ok with you? Or will you continue to grasp at straws trying to equivocate away from the issue of Ted’s obvious gutter politics, lies, and misrepresentations? Actions have consequences and for Ted it shows up in his massive NH loss and current poll numbers. |
Why did you skip over this post?
LOL!!!!!!
Yep...
I loved my Saturday morning cartoons. How about you? The "F" could stand for fake, false, or flood?
In the video from your link, Cruz did not say that Trump was now pro-choice.
Cruz said that Trump for the first 60 years was pro-choice.
Trump is what?, almost 70 years old now.
The link to your video starts halfway through Cruz's comment. It chops off the first part of Cruz's sentence where he qualifies his comment by saying, "for the first 60 years of Trumps life".
Whoever created that link, is is being very dishonest. Do you understand that?? Was it you????
So you care about what a bunch of liberal fags are saying now against a conservative politician?
Please read post #153 again. You got caught flagrantly lying about a guy you accuse of lying. Do you not see what is so obvious to the others here? The first rule when you're deep in a hole is to stop digging.
Nope notninsinuating im pretty blunt. Most FReepers even those I may not agree with are self sufficient ;-)
