How Trump Bought the Conservative Movement
Accuracy in Media ^ | February 16, 2016 | Cliff Kincaid

It has become increasingly clear that the "self-funded" candidate in the Republican presidential primary, Donald J. Trump, will destroy the GOP's chances to win in November if he is not the nominee. Leftist groups are ecstatic over Trump’s "Bush lied, people died," mantra over the Iraq war. Internet trolls for Vladimir Putin are firmly behind Trump, saying he has the right recipe for accommodating Russia.

...

How did this happen? Conservatives who should know better went beyond praising his attacks on political correctness to welcoming him as a legitimate conservative candidate for president. Last year, Matt Schlapp, the chairman of the American Conservative Union (ACU) and co-founder of Cove Strategies, a lobbying firm, went on MSNBC and was asked by Chris Matthews if Trump is a "plausible president." He said "Yeah. Definitely. Definitely." He also said, "I actually know Donald Trump," in regard to some of the businessman's other controversial comments. Such remarks sent the message to conservatives nationwide that Trump was one of them.

Ironically, Schlapp is the former political director for President George W. Bush, now accused by Trump of lying to get the U.S. into the Iraq War. How well does Schlapp really know Trump?

It seemed to start when the ACU declared Trump "an American patriot" and announced he was addressing the 2013 conference of the ACU-sponsored Conservative Political Action Conference. That same year, his Donald J. Trump Foundation gave $50,000 to the ACU Foundation. The Donald J. Trump Foundation also gave $25,000 to The American Spectator Foundation, the organization responsible for publishing The American Spectator magazine...

Do you have proof you did not notice it?
In reading the question again. How could I prove to you my thoughts?

Would like to have a source or link showing Donald was 'FIRST' with a wall.

When did Trump announce then, or roughly what was the date? I honestly do not remember.

Did Trump ever talk about a wall before his announcement?

Thank you for replying,

even if you do not answer the question,

it does answer the question.

Take care.........pilgrim

Trump was first on the Wall, immigration ad other major issues.

Just trying to get an explanation of why you believe this. Is it because Trump has stated that?

I think Trump "borrowed" that aspect of Cruz's campaign!

Wow!!

Generalizations no definitive.

Trump used the position Cruz had and took it as “his” own and is now accusing Cruz of ‘stealing my position’!!!

Many have talked wall, but Donald made in addition the national statements about immigration and refugee Muslims leading all the discussions.
It would be nice to have a workaholic in office that accomplished great private sector stuff instead of lower skilled politicians.
I do like Cruz though I am disappointed over a few things.

Bought my ass

You Cruz or nobody else drones on this forum robopost 90% of the traffic here

Every single GOPe or so called conservative org in America except Breitbart and a few unknowns are all on a death match against Trump whether they are pimping for Bush or Rubio or Cruz

Fox News devotes most of their airtime to distorting every utterance by Trump into a negative news story meanwhile giving very little airtime to Trump supporters like Stone or Coulter or Bannon or the Dallas gurl who’s name escapes me

Another Murdoch outlet WSJ is in full pimp with this new outlier poll which is not their first btw showing Trump in decline

Talk radio has slowly fallen to a steady anti Trump beat down pimping Rubio or Cruz

They are all in full panic because they know if he wins South Carolina by a decent margin it’s likely over

This full scale onslaught everywhere against Trump is unprecedented

It’s like the Romney war on Newt same time in South Carolina in 2012 times 100

How many of these drones are plants?

I don’t think you are ...I think I remember u from before

This place was rich with Bush campaign operators in the early 2000s

I guess after Trump prevails there will be a couple 100 of us left here

All you guys will go to another sandbox and be yourselves and go Lord of the Flies in 6 months

Meanwhile I’m riding with Trump

So keep posting your bull shit and remember what Joey Blue Eyes Cosantino told me a long time ago

“What makes you laugh today can make you cry tomorrow “

So you believe! That is fine no problem. You

believe!

From articles posted with dates re: THE WALL!!

I believe Trump is making false statements re: Cruz!!

I don't agree with Cruz on everything. Haven't totally made up my mind but when

"Trump calls one of his rhetorical tools "truthful hyperbole."
He both defends and praises it as "an innocent form of exaggeration - and a very effective form of promotion." As a promoter, Trump made extensive use of this technique. Now he is using it in his bid for President."

He doesn't have to defend it to me. He will stand before a higher power as we all will. And it, the

false allegation

makes the decision of voting a lot easier!!

* JULY 1987: Trump registers for the first time from his Fifth Avenue penthouse. The real estate developer, 41 at the time, reports having previously been registered from his boyhood home in Queens (though his prior party affiliation is unclear). Trump enrolls as a REPUBLICAN.

* OCTOBER 1999: Trump dumps the GOP and enrolls as a member of the INDEPENDENCE PARTY.

* AUGUST 2001: Trump enrolls as a DEMOCRAT.

* SEPTEMBER 2009: After eight years as a Democrat, Trump returns to the REPUBLICAN PARTY.

* DECEMBER 2011: Trump lasts two years before he again abandons the party of Ronald Reagan. He eschews the GOP in favor of siding with no party. On his registration form, “The Apprentice” star checks off the box marked "I DO NOT WISH TO ENROLL IN A PARTY."

* APRIL 2012: Trump registers as a REPUBLICAN.

But you said the Conservative movement sold us out. When in reality, it was individuals like Nicky Haley who did.

Oh...I get it now. It wasn't the Conservative Movement that sold us out,. it was the individual Conservatives in the movement that sold us out.

We, as conservatives are on the brink of having a Conservative President....a House and Senate set and prepared for such.....why would you blow it now NOT voting for a tried and proved Conservative Candidate who has fought against the very things you wrote of since he went to Washington...often times alone doing so.

I'm not willing to throw this opportunity away....in fact it's dangerous to even consider because I don't think we'll survive by any other candidate winning this Primary then Ted Cruz.....he's already got everything set and ready in Washington when his feet land there...it's a go. There's Representatives eager and ready to go to work with Cruz who've been working behind the scenes with him for some time...many in the shadows because we know the corruption there....they will be stepping out and up once he's there.

So yes....this is the time and the hour Conservatives have been not only waiting for...but 'given'.... to turn this ship and bring this nation back to what it's intended to be.

Oh, thank God we have a New York democrat show up to tell us what “real conservatism” is, then.

It just shows how pathetically transparent the GOP_e's lies have become.

(I'll address Breitbart* separately)

Bravo! wardaddy!

Robopost ... LOL. NEW FReeper word is born! (Albion Wilde, please take note)

Without a doubt you have painted the perfect picture of the going's on here and drawn a vividly accurate portrait of Cruz v Trump with your comparison to Romney v Newt in SC in 2012, save for the fact that none of us were on Romney's side. The split was the Sweater Vesters' v Newt's side.

I seriously doubt any of the Roboposting Cruz drones are paid plants ...too amateurish ... lol ... and confrontational! NOT persuasive at all. Epic failures, all.

With our seemingly never-ending FReepathon, I don't have much spare time to read or to post on the multitude of the Roboposters' threads. Likely a blessing!

You wrote, "This full-scale onslaught everywhere against Trump is unprecedented." Stunning, but, of course you're right! Trump is all in for a total win! The nomination, the presidency, and the RNC/GOP-e kingdom. Trump knows better than any of us, when you go after a kingdom, you must prevail, by any and all means. Like that Oakland Raider's owner, the late Al Davis always said, "Just win baby, win."

Breitbart* = BTW, I'll forward the dual begging-for-$$ e-mail from BREITBART & CRUZ to you that I received today. I can't get it copied to post. Maybe you can. OKay to leave-in my first name if too difficult to edit.
