Draft-dodger Donald Trump once said that the danger he faced from getting sexually transmitted diseases was his own “personal Vietnam.” In a 1997 interview with shock jock Howard Stern, Trump talked about how he had been “lucky” not to have contracted diseases when he was sleeping around. “I’ve been so lucky in terms of that whole world. It is a dangerous world out there. It’s scary, like Vietnam. Sort of like the Vietnam-era,” Trump said in a video that resurfaced Tuesday on Buzzfeed, “It is my personal Vietnam. I feel like a great and very brave soldier.”

The ‘point’ is your fake self-righteous indignation and exactly where in that linked article that Trumps says “I dodged the draft intentionally.” He got deferments and his classification ended up being not eligible.... go look at post #12.

A ‘deferment’ is exactly that and your scurrilous implication based on “just wanting others do know...”is reprehensible. “Admits to?” you mean sleeping around? Like Bill Clinton and half the politicians in DC.

So, what was Trump’s number in the draft lottery? Also, a 2-S deferment was not draft-dodging. Nor was a 4-F classification, unless it was fraudulently obtained. Draft-dodging was going to Canada.

It’s him, Donald Trump. Stating those very words to Howard Stern.
I wouldn’t label it something full of lies as, again, he literally spoke those words himself.

I can see where people post these types of articles because they believe it will hurt him among some of those who claim to be “very conservative”, but it will help him in the general election with the other 97% of Americans.

This is not news. I don’t think Trump cares if anyone approves of his life. I don’t approve of some of the things he has said. I do approve of many things he has done, esp when he has spontaneously shown generosity to private citizens and vets.

I also believe he loves America and is interested in making it better for his kids and grandkids. I think he’s a real person who has lived a full life, good, bad, ugly or pretty.
If the behavior spoken about in this article was a sum total picture of everything he had done and he had no accomplishments in his life, I’d say it looks bad.

Right now it just looks National Enquirer level tawdry. And it distracts from other more pressing issues that need to be discussed and ironed out. I guess it’s just a short break for some.

The military isn't for everyone and certainly is not a prerequisite for being President. But, there WAS this thing called Desert Storm, that was pretty important and inspired me and many friends to join. And since Ted and I are the same age....

Trump attended the NYC military academy and has supported veterans for decades. He built the NYC Vietnam memorial in 1982, and has been honored by vets multiple times over the years since then.

How come if tRump so loves the military none of his children have joined. I remember when Romney was running this place did nothing but criticize Romney because none of his children had joined. I believe 4 of his 5 children are all old enough to have joined yet none of them have.

As a Vietnam vet, I don’t find his comments funny, at all. Sucking up deferments, spending Daddy’s money, burning up the party circuit, yes, that is the same as being a big brave soldier.

Understand, but the title of the article linked featured “Draft Dodger Trump” as the operative phrase, and the OP now suggests it is only the sexual promiscuity that is operative here.

I agree, Trump’s comments were ill advised. I served 68-76, but I don’t attack him because of his deferments using sexual looseness as the base argument. The whole purpose of this is a TDS Drive-by under very pathetic aegis.
