The Washington Post’s one-man Fifth Column, Dana Milbank, is at it again. Apparently, he has been shadowing Ted Cruz’s campaign. Unable to come up with anything substantive, what he’s produced is one of the most juvenile screeds ever to appear in any major newspaper:
"When Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) last month mocked Donald Trump’s “New York values,†it wasn’t entirely clear what he was implying.
This week we got a clue: For Cruz, “New York†is another way of saying “Jewish.â€
At an event in New Hampshire, Cruz, the Republican Iowa caucuses winner, was asked about campaign money he and his wife borrowed from Goldman Sachs. Cruz, asserting that Trump had “upward of $480 million of loans from giant Wall Street banks,†said: “For him to make this attack, to use a New York term, it’s the height of chutzpah.†Cruz, pausing for laughter after the phrase “New York term,†exaggerated the guttural “ch†to more laughter and applause.
But “chutzpah,†of course, is not a “New York†term. It’s a Yiddish — a Jewish — one. And using “New York†as a euphemism for “Jewish†has long been an anti-Semitic dog whistle."
The mind boggles.

Every time a Jewish liberal or GOPe or even the rare Jewish conservative calls a right wing conservative anti Semite is it ever accurate and why do they get away with it?
If a conservative Christian slams the same Jew as bigoted towards Christianity because of his or her Judaism or Jewish identity...the more frequent reality...do they get the same pass
And why not?
The anti Christian bigotry from liberal Jews is exponentially more common in media academia and Hollywood than what Milbank is accusing Cruz of plus I think it’s a given that Cruz is arguably the most likely guy in the race to suffer from that freeper malady plenty have....Wish I was Jewish too syndrome

Milbank was part of Ezra Klein’s “Journolist” in 2007/08, approximately 300 “journalists” and bloggers who were actively campaigning for 0bama. This is the same nasty crew who went after Palin, and hounded her for years afterwards.
It's not so much that Milbank is Jewish.

Hillary’s email was antisemitic. Cruz’s comment was not.
As a member of the tribe, I’ve called people antisemitic; however, I do not think my man, Ted Cruz, is antisemitic bg any means. Argument by innuendo and sheer paranoia is not logical. A charge of antisemitism ahould be supported by cogent argument and evidence, and “dog whistle” does not cut the bill.
After 7 years of the Hussein al-Obama regime, I've spoken to more than a few left-leaning (not hardcore left) Jews who not say that not only will they be voting GOP this time around, but have actually changed parties. I'm talking about those 50 and older, not the younger generations. The % will still be way under 50% total, but hopefully some progress as been made on that front. It would drive yutzes like Milbank over the edge.

Cruz’s “New York Values” remark was shortsighted but no doubt concerned big city liberalism, not the Jews.

Re the headline below, I think it makes sense to post threads like these, particularly when coming from prominent commentators. As to the dog whistle, my dogs hear it, I don't. Probably the same thing with antisemite whistles. Though I've heard the term New York Jew, mostly relating to Jews from New York, I don't think I've ever heard the term New York Values, certainly not as a perjorative. Related threads
The utter nastiness of Ted Cruz (and the utter ZOT-ness of the moron who posted this)
such BS, especially since everyone knows Trump is a gentile, and he’s the epitome of the WASP in many ways (only less than Jeb!).
While I prefer Trump, Cruz did show leadership and courage (unlike HUSSEIN Osama) at IDC when he stood up for Israel and the people in the crowd who had been brainwashed against Israel by their Muslim masters booed Cruz.
Trump’s values are not Jewish. They’re more like the sexual and marital mores of a trailer park redeemed only with a slight touch of Babbit. How Milbank could miss this is hard to imagine.
Do you really think “trailer park” mores are worse than those of, say, the Upper West Side?
Liberalism success, and the failure of our nation, is that the difference between the two is more difficult to see. Wife-shucking and adultery, traits Trump demonstrates and bragged about in one of his books, are considered enlightened in the milieu of Trump. Sexual chastity is considered weird. Fidelity to spouse or any principles are scoffed at by Trump types. That’s why he can brag about his hyperbole (i.e., lying) as a techniques in deal making and not suffer from it. His fans read right over that type of thing and admire him all the more. I noted the trailer park idea, though, because one Trump supporters stumbled onto an insight when he told me I was off base. He said that Trump’s wife-shucking was no difference than in parts of the South and in Appalachia. I suggested Trump use that in his campaign. “Hey, I trade ‘em in too.”
I see your posts all the time and the fact is I agree with you more often than not.
But I hear the trailer park slur out of vicious Leftists all the time...and I’d say it’s beneath you.
I’ve lived in tough little towns all over the Plains and mountain West and all I know is that the “trailer park” types do a hell of a lot more to keep things running than all the writers, artists, ski bums, professors, politicians and millionaire/billionaires combined.
