RUSH LIMBAUGH: Rubio Is Not an Establishment Moderate

TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: I have to say one thing, one more thing, one more time. I do not like -- and I've got a Reuters story: "Marco Rubio Emerges Champion of Battered Republican Establishment." Another Reuters story, headline: "Republican Cruz Calls Iowa Win a Victory for Conservative Grassroots." I do not like, speaking for myself, I don't like this idea that Marco Rubio is all of a sudden being labeled as an establishment candidate.

I know that Rubio's got the baggage of that Gang of Eight bill and I know that in many people's minds he's got the baggage of wanting to grant the current number of illegals citizenship. I understand that. But Marco Rubio is no moderate Republican centrist. I could sit here like anybody else could and try to make explanations for you for why he did the Gang of Eight. I'm not even gonna try to put words into his mouth. I don't want to be seen as making excuses. I'm just telling you, I don't see Marco Rubio as anything other than a legitimate, full-throated conservative. Nobody's pure, and nobody is ever free of making mistakes.

I know Senator Rubio. It's like I was telling you last week: I know these people. I know that Senator Rubio in the Senate... In many ways, he agrees with Cruz about things. He's worn out with the Senate. The Senate... I heard this from Allen West when he left the House. I've heard, "The incumbents, that's all they care about is being reelected. You go there to make a difference and you run into brick wall after brick wall after brick wall." I don't think... You know, Rubio, I don't think he wants to stay there 30 years to break through the wall to get a committee chairmanship or whatever.

I just don't like this idea that all of a sudden we're gonna make Rubio the establishment bad guy, as though Rubio is no different than the McCains and the Bob Doles and the Romneys and the others that have come along and been nominated by the establishment. He just isn't. He has not been talked out of his conservatism. He does not abandon it. He had the best end-of-the-evening speech of anybody last night. He had the best end-of-the-evening speech of anybody. And even the media was dazzled by the fact that he did it without a teleprompter.

They continue to be dazzled by that. (chuckling) Of course, Barack Hussein O can't do anything without a teleprompter. I just don't want to... We had three genuine Reaganites triumph last night, and Rubio did better than a lot of people thought he was gonna do -- and to me, that is very important. It is crucially important for conservatism, for Reaganism, for the future of the Republican Party. I'm just not comfortable here sitting and watching somebody end up maybe being destroyed because of a characterization of being "establishment."

Yeah, the establishment may embrace him because they hate Cruz and they're not gonna embrace Trump, and their real preferences can't get any traction. (That would be Jeb and Kasich and Christie.) So they've gotta go with somebody. But I'm never gonna be one that sees Marco Rubio as the establishment, as we talk about it every day here on this program.

Everyone does make mistakes but not everyone keeps making them. It took Cruz about 6 months to come to Jesus on the TPA and Trump has seen the light on killing babies. Rubio still thinks amnesty is great. Sorry Rush, Rubio is a back stabbing GOPer lapdog.

Rubio also has a very close connection to FOX , so it is no wonder why FOX is pushing their guy.

Rush. I can’t vote for someone who won’t enforce our borders and won’t enforce deportation and job enforcement. It would just be signing away our country. If Rubio or someone like him is the candidate, then I won’t vote for Pres. But pray that Congress can hold the line. Immigration is the make or break for this election. Period.

I’m looking at Ruby-O’s crystal ball,
And nowhere do I see a Wall.

Whatever any man may offer,
If there’s no Wall, I’ll be a scoffer.

Not surprising. Hush Bimbo is on record opposing deportation. Trump’s rehabilitation of Rubio is all part of the plan to begin with.

He must be on crack if he thinks Trump is a Reaganite.

I miss 90s to early 2000s Rush.

Every now and then I listen to him on the weekend’s review and find I haven’t missed much.

I’ll crank it up if I’m outside working on something and the neighborhood marxist is outside in his yard. I’m sure it annoys him - good.

I have to say that even though Rush says he doesn't believe that Rubio is not a full-throated conservative, I do not believe this.

In my opinion, Rubio is an Amnesty Snake and he will legitimize all the illegals residing in this country whenever he gets the power. No doubt about it.

Legitimization will give standing. Standing will give precedent. Precedent will result in full citizenship and the completion of our financial destruction.

EXACTLY.

Rubio has close connections to FOX, Rush seems to be off his rocker lately and is losing it. Rubio by far is the establishment guy who needs taking out before he moves more up and the likes of FOX, Rush and the establishment carries him over the line.

Like hell do I want an open border guy like Rubio and he can certainly lie that is for sure after those debates .

Go to the site and read about how Reaganite’s won last night.. With Cruz, Rubio and Carson winning 60% of the vote.
Says DT blew it with his attacks and lies about Cruz and other conservatives. Rush says every day DT isn’t conservative cause he is not.

Whaaa?

Glad he said that last bit, because he did not call Romney a sellout or an establishment candidate at the time either. So he is consistent. One day he will admit Rubio was the same.

Rush is not stupid. I guess he likes his job too. Sad. He’s just a guy following orders. I really like him but he has such limited powers and won’t go rogue.

Rubio was wrong on the Gang of 8, but on just about every other issue he’s solid.

That's like saying "Yes, I ran the red light and killed a busload of pregnant women, but I have a drivers license."

I agree with Rush. Rubio was wrong on the Gang of 8, but on just about every other issue he’s solid. Including the very unestablishment-like issues such as abortion.

Abortion is always safe to harp on since it appeals to conservatives but then it is unnecessary to actually mount any real campaign against abortion once in office. It's a social issue you can keep on milking forever and ever.

So, you’ll cast a vote for Hillary or Bernie instead? Give me a break. His ACU rating is 98, which is 11th or 12th most conservative in the Senate, the first four are all dead 100’s which include my choice, Cruz.

I’ll gladly pull the trigger for Rubio if he is the nominee, he is vastly better than a McCain or Romney, and compared to the Dems.....

Don’t be so purely conservative that you are a fool.
