"RUSH: As for Trump, I have to... I was surprised. I was just a little stunned when Trump starts speaking positively... He didn't come out for single-payer health care, but he made it clear that when it comes to health care, he's closer to the Obama approach than to the traditional Republican. I was stunned. I was stunned when I saw what Trump had said on TV, literally taken aback by it. Anyway, we'll get into all this in detail as the program unfolds today. And, again, your host -- your beloved host -- is in a lion's share of the audio sound bites today. These are somewhat interesting, actually, somewhat relevant. So I'm gonna lead off with them rather than relegate them to the third hour as I've been doing in recent days. SNIP

But it doesn't work. It never has worked. Wherever you go in the world, this approach never, ever has worked. And our country cannot take any more of this and maintain its brilliance in its founding, it's opportunity for the most, its prosperity, it's just not possible. Besides that, elements of the Democrat Party are taking direct aim at that America for whatever host of varying reasons. So when I hear candidates start talking about issues that make me think I'm listening to Democrats or make me think I'm listening to people who think the solution to all this is more government, bigger government, smarter government, what have you, red flags fly high, because government -- and this is not a cliche, and it's not simplistic conservatism -- government is the problem" - Rush

“Sometimes it takes Rush a while to show his true GOP-E colors.”
So Rush is now a liberal?
ROFLMAO.
Trump supports single-payer socialized medicine. It’s not “spin” or anything.
If you like Trump on this or other issues, that’s great.
But don’t be in denial.

As I recall, Rush did all he could the previous two election cycles to derail any third party talk. Had to keep the GOP together. I started then to take him less seriously, although he knows politics through and through.

Sometimes it takes Rush a while to show his true GOP-E colors. 1) Trump advocates for liberal health care policies
2) Rush points out Trump advocates for liberal health care policies
3) Your problem is with Rush, not Trump?

Haven’t you learned? If one has a problem with Trump one is a heretical loser! Facts be damned!

After he had all that trouble, he came back a total Bushbot. He brought Specter on the day of the primary when he was about to lose to Toomey in ‘04. Specter was the deciding vote for Obamacare.
Rush has not been a serious conservative in 15 years. He follows orders. It’s sad for old fans like me.

IMHO, most corporate ‘conservatives’ have wanted the government to ‘take over’ health care and get it off their books for a long time. They just avoid saying it. Health care costs are a big part of their growing costs of benefits, and they would like to shed this cost. It's very, very shortsighted on their part, but being shortsighted has become a hallmark of American business strategy - so it is not that surprising.
I'm not saying that having employers pay for health care is the best solution. I am saying that many corporations don't mind the concept of a federal system, even if they won't openly say it. This is a long discussion, so not appropriate for this thread, but when it comes to health care issues, Dems and Repubs are often on the same side, although most would not admit it.

The problem with Rush is the months long flirtation with Trump and the day of the caucus he’s suddenly surprised that Trump is a liberal.
To: TheThirdRuffian
So Rush is now a liberal? It was only a matter of time. hehe

My point being, Rush is tiptoeing around Trump. He SHOULD be slamming him every day, like Levin does. The old Rush wouldn’t sound so pained when he dances around the fact that Trump is not conservative in any way.

MY problem with Rush: His selective application of conservatism to ALL the candidates. I didn’t hear any comments about any of Cruz’s recent over the top antics on today’s Rush broadcast.
Just say’n.

Had to turn Rush off today. This is old stuff taken out of context and Rush knows it. Rush sees Cruz going down in flames on the mailer and he is trying to salvage Cruz by going after Trump. It’s sad. Rush has done it before when Cruz started to flag. It’s rather pathetic, though, that this old story, already long since hashed over, is brought up because apparently there is nothing left to bring up.
