The personalized letters target individual Iowa voters and identifies them as having failed to vote in prior elections. They are admonished and then encouraged to vote this year. In addition the letters identify the neighbors of the voter, and provides their voting history.
The text reads:
"You are receiving this election notice because of low expected voter turnout in your area. Your individual voting history as well as your neighbors' are public record. Their scores are published below, and many of them will see your score as well. CAUCUS ON MONDAY TO IMPROVE YOUR SCORE and please encourage your neighbors to caucus as well. A follow-up notice may be issued following Monday's caucuses".
In an effort to shame the recipient, the notice also informs the targeted voter their neighbors have also been notified of the recipients poor voting record.

But did Red State acknowledge is was NOT the Trump campaign who sent it?
My mother has been part of local GOP politics for over 40 years, and she has "pressed the flesh" of the presidential candidates in those years. She's seen competent staff, fanatic staff and clueless staff, but her impression of Trump's people was that they are the best she's seen yet, and that he knows how to pick them.
CAVEAT ALERT: on the flip side, mom (as well as myself, I confess) was very impressed by Joni Ernst in person as well. Joni has been rather disappointing in a Romneyesque sense. We can't claim prescience.
I doubt if mater has received one of these Cruz mailers herself, as I have not gotten a phone call featuring language with which she is familiar but not comfortable. Something like this would put her a few miles past the point of irritation.

“Have you ever worked on a campaign? A campaign without a huge database of voting records is not a campaign.”
Voting records that are shared with neighbors in order to shame and degrade the would be voter? It looks like you, yourself are in need of an American refresher course. Voting is a right, not a requirement for good standing among politicians or society. I’ll bet you don’t eat enough vegetables or exercise according to Federal guidelines. We’ll just have to see what kind of pressure we can bring to bear on your personal standing with your neighbors to fix that. I’ll bet they can bring you in line!
If that doesn’t work, we’ll put your picture up in the post office along with your exercise and eating habits.
Having a database is one thing. Using it to shame and coerce people isn’t.
Personally, I'd be more concerned about whether the guy in the Oval Office with the pen and the phone believes it.
For a long time, this was a sure-fire way to avoid jury duty. These days, not so much.
He didn’t know he was a Canadian citizen?
My sons had to produce birth certificates to play Little League but Cruz never had to produce one for anything, ever, in his whole 40 some years?
First, I don’t believe anything Conservative Tree House puts out as it is a BS machine (just like Donald Trump) of the highest order. Second, I have received that exact same mailer during previous election cycles out here on the West coast. Did those also come from Ted Cruz? And finally, regardless of which campaign or PAC sent that out, if you don’t get out and vote for the only PROVEN Tea Party conservative in this race, and instead lose your nerve and vote for a leftist like Donald Trump because you desperately want to believe that he has mended his ways in the last six months...you SHOULD feel ashamed of yourself!
I feel more ashamed of you.
Yes, Another brilliant tactic by the smartest man ever. I put this right up there with insulting everyone in and from the state of New York. Way to go Cruz! The Democrats are shaking in their boots at the thought of facing Ted, eh. Ted Cruz plays 3d chess while we mere mortals can barely play checkers.
Is that your final answer? Would you like to use a lifeline?
PS all the posters say the Donald is the one who needs the historically unprecedented turnout...it’s far more likely it came from the Trump campaign.
You can’t swallow it huh, and you tried to defend it a few posts earlier. Face it, it’s over for Ted.
“At this rate, I wouldnât be surprised if the next notice Cruz sends out says, If you donât vote, youâre going to hell.”
That’s been strongly implied hasn’t it? Not only if you don’t vote but if you don’t vote for Cruz, you’re just not a Christian Conservative.
Cruz campaign admitted they sent it.
Rather than knee-jerk this - am I growing up? - I went back to sleep ruminating on it.
So, a guy at an Iowa college, part of Team Cruz, puts this idea together to get the attention of Iowans who get 10 campaign mailers per day, plus polling calls, which largely get thrown in the trash and hung up on. This mailer, he says, will not be thrown away, in fact the recipients will immediately call their neighbors listed on the violation form to confirm THEY got one, too.
Sounds like a marketing breakthrough, no?
But on the same day 7 people depart the campaign under questionable circumstances. I’m looking for more info on that, if anybody knows anything.
So this Iowa professor or whatever he is, is he still with the campaign? If so, then this is stupider than the Beck idea. If not, then Cruz likely didn’t hear about the mailer until people started opening theirs and likely blew a gasket. Remember, Cruz’ church and 4 others in Houston were targeted by lezbo mayor Anissa Parker to hand over their sermons, which Cruz remedied immediately.
IMO, Cruz wouldn’t approve this, Texans are outraged by this kind of stuff. Iowans probably aren’t, subject as they are to Caucus attention overkill every 4 years.
Was camp Cruz sabotaged? Need more data - from that Dailey affair - to decide. OTOH, depending how ‘narrow’ this mailing was, it could be the talk of IA until Monday.
Heh.
That is what every TDS Cruz supporter has been trying to slam down our unworthy throats!
Is this for real? This is way past what is appropriate. Way past.
If I got one, I’d be mad enough to vote for an opponent.
I have been reading and replying on this thread for an hour and a half. That is a record. LOL. Vanity post. But I bet I am not alone.
I just want to be post 700. Go Trump!!
