Donald Trump has opened up a marginal lead over Ted Cruz in the voting on the Free Republic Caucus thread. Yesterday's vote revealed a 51.88% to 45.31% preference for Trump.
The Free Republic Caucus (daily) has been up and running for four days now. The first day was the 20th, and we're in the midst of voting on the fourth day now. Over 300 people have participated each day.
The Free Republic Caucus has been instituted to determine what the preference of FReepers was. It is being run each day leading up to and into the Caucus and Primary season, so that we can determine how dynamics of the day are impacting people's preferences here.
Does daily news impact our preferences? Do endorsements impact our preferences? Are arguments on the forum affecting our preferences? Are candidates actions impacting our preferences?
There are five important dynamics to the Caucus daily results.
1. What are FReepers preferences
2. Is there a trend over time?
3. How many people are contributing to the consensus
4. How large is the voice on Free Republic.
5. What caliber of people are representatuve of this forum.
It would be nice if thousands were participating in this activity. Those who review what is going on here should be able to see a robust participation. The more participation, the louder our voice will be.
Results of the prior day's voting is linked at the bottom of the initial post starting each new day's Free Republic Caucus. Once you see that day's vote, you'll be able to move backward to see other day's votes.
Statistics of the vote are presented. A graph reveals what the trend has been.
Rules are applied evenly and fairly to both main groups of supporters on the forum. The thread has been regligously dedicated to being a place where folks can go and vote without distrubance and infighting.
May the best man win.
If there are any questions regarding the Free Republic caucus, please ask away.
Once again, to those who have participated by voting for your prefence and abiding by the rules, I think the forum has been very well represented by your actions. Thank you very much.

Your vote on this thread didn't count for today's Caucus.
I just wish that posters would READ and FOLLOW your instructions and refrain from posting rallying stuff to the vote thread. It's not only distracting, makes your job harder, and does NOTHING at all to help whichever side is doing it.
Wonder why it bothers them? It's just some html. ;-)
Based on what I’ve seen since 04, I expect that we’ll fight like cats the same as we always do. Some will think it’s indicative of realpolitic, others a sign of the imminent apocalypse.
Neither do they have a sense of humor.
It was a funny post, that you made, and worth a giggle. :-)
Vote Trump
No great conspiracy. Just indicative that FReepers aren’t the homogenous group we might have thought. Something very interesting I noticed in scanning the votes was how many were cast by folks that I don’t often see on the threads.
oops I went ahead and voted in the correct thread!
We can vote each day? I thought it was just once and don’t vote again unless you change who you are voting for. Huh??
It is a daily caucus. Why would I prevent you from voting daily?
How many would vote on day two if you couldn’t vote daily?
LoL, one vote is from a person that signed up 3 days ago and has but one comment... Vote Trump.
That is choice. Bias would mean that you, Doughty One, were influencing the caucus. It just means trump is winning.
Thanks for clearing that up for me, I misunderstood the directions when I read them first night I guess.
I also appreciate your work on this, it is very good to have this info... and daily too ...LOL !
This person has signed up today and voted twice for Trump... Again, the only two comments of their brief career at FR...

Someone has been lurking.
Great. Wow, how cool is that.
DO.... Being the wizard you are, is there any way to block votes from signups on a date certain?
Edit: Voted Cruz not Trump... Mistake on my behalf.. still the point I was trying to make is it is funny how people will do things to influence voting.
I wouldn’t be surprised if I could pull that detail out of data I already collect.
Do we want to block that from being a calling card to get more people to join our forum?
I don’t want to see people or parties game our forum, so this could be a problem.
Why don’t I see if I can pull that data, and then I can review if it is a problem.
One person here and there, not so bad. 30 people within days to vote, certainly an issue.
Sounds like a plan.
How about noobs might still get to vote, but their vote is not counted?
So we actually have a static pool.
You’re right, it may not be a problem. Any way Jim would give you numbers on new signups?
oops - should have used white font for all this..
