RNC cuts debate ties with conservative magazine over anti-Trump issue

The Republican National Committee announced late Thursday that the venerable conservative magazine National Review had been dropped as a debate sponsor after it published an issue devoted to why voters should reject Donald Trump's presidential campaign.

RNC spokesman Sean Spicer confirmed to Buzzfeed News that the magazine had been dropped as a sponsor of the Feb. 25 debate in Houston, saying "a debate moderator can't have a predisposition."

"We expected this was coming," National Review publisher Jack Fowler wrote in a blog post early Friday, calling the RNC move a "small price to pay for speaking the truth about The Donald."

Well, I’ll be. Frankly, I’m surprised.

NR is a bunch of conservative intellectual elites who assist with creating the conservative substructure we operate on...

They have a place... but it's not at the front of a populist revolution. The fact they've missed what's been going on in the country tells me they've become too ingrown. They need fresh blood in the group.

Maam, I would not wish my sweet mother on my harshest critic or worst enemy. I wear flame proof bullet proof bee proof snake proof shark proof outfits when I visit her. Her swearing would make a sailor blush. She Judges people instantly. I love her. Many fear her, including me. ;-) She is also tech challenged. Works on a computer all day, and hates the f’ing thing in her words. Would love nothing better than to get her on FR, but... she judges to extreme standards. She does not hold her tongue. She would get zotted in minutes. She would be a hoot for a bit. Then.... would cross every line drawn.

She is a Tasmanian devil on steroids. For all our sakes, keep her off of here. Seriously. As in I am not kidding. As in she will judge you not worthy in seconds. As in she really really cares about appearance, not substance. How do I put it delicately?

My mother is shallow and unafraid to let it show.

Best way I can put it. I suffer her BS because I love her as a son. My poor Dad... how he hasn’t killed her... I will never know.

I on the other hand married a saint. :-) Sweetest tough Bitch you can even imagine. She thinks FR is too liberal, and rather is active in local politics. Got elected to our homeowners association on the platform of this thing is BS, and we are paying for nothing. Dissolved it. I live in a community with no busy body aholes (my mom) to tell me what to do. 3 of us in the community take care of the common areas. The rest occasionally stop and donate for gas, seed, fertilizer or weed killer. Takes 15 minutes a week in the summer. We even had a resident landscaper in here come out with his skidsteer on a voluntary basis, as in he decided they looked terrible, came and ripped the yews out roots and all. Regraded the area, hydroseeded, and asked the guy across the street from the area to water it for him. Looks great today.

That’s exactly what I thought. If NR’s timing is so OFF, why would I listen to what they say? Not that I’ve ever been a big fan of that magazine.

What...? Did the RNC have a come-to-Jesus moment? Defending Trump? I don’t get it — suspicious.

“The RNC (which was the subject of my remarks) knows Cruz is not qualified, but it chose to participate in an illegal and immoral act, subversive of the constitution, by certifying Cruz as eligible and allowing him to appear on primary ballots in the several states.”

Your mother sounds a lot like my mother. She’s 92, but a political junkie, and sharp as a tack. Also trusts Trump more than Cruz.

I don’t know if jimbo got that notion [that the RNC would disqualify Cruz and shift delegates to a GOPe candidate] from me, I certainly had and expressed that notion out of my own head, independenly of of any input from others. It is pretty common for multiple people to come to identical understandings, each on their own.

Oh, yes; I know that! I was just adding that comment for impact — to emphasize that several people have similar thoughts on the subject. Sorry if you took it wrong. Sure didn’t mean that!

Conservatives are the Blacks on the GOP plantation.

For decades we have shook our heads wondering why blacks line up to vote for the Dims decade after decade despite the utter destruction the Dims have brought to their community.

Trump has made many of them realize Conservatives are the Blacks of the GOP plantation. We line up year after year, sacrifice our time and money, and what do we get? A GOP political machine this is virtually identical to the Dims who comes around every 2 years saying “If you just give us this, everything will be awesome.”

Ask yourself this. Despite giving the entire Government to the GOP under Bush, was any item on the Conservative agenda advanced?

Sadly the answer is NO. And what many of us are realizing is the tools of the Conservative establishment i.e. Town-hall, Heritage Foundation, Club for Growth, NRO, Weekly Standard, Fox News, etc are the GOP equivalents of the “Civil Rights Leaders” that keep Blacks on the Democrat’s plantation.

Cruz is just the latest red herring of this “keep the Conservatives on the plantation” stick. Cruz does not have the ability to go over the heads of the political/media/business machine and get the American people behind him. Cruz will mouth all the right slogans and do nothing but what the Political/Media/Business machine tells him to do. If he oppose them, he will be tied up with phony media manufactured scandals and a uniformly hostile Congressional Leadership until he knuckles under in desperation to build SOMETHING for his “legacy”.

This is why people need to quit worshiping the career politicians who happen to mouth the proper slogans. Under the surface, all professional politicians are driven by ego and the ambition to write their names in the History books.

Non no no, didn't take it wrong, just saying I already has that speculation in my head.

I think it's great that that speculation is finding root, and I am sure other people come to the same point on their own.
