John Roberts Should Be a Quick Confirm.
National Review ^ | July 20, 2005 | Senator Ted Cruz

Posted on 01/18/2016 3:10:56 PM PST by true believer forever

"As an individual, John Roberts is undoubtedly a principled conservative, as is the president who appointed him. He clerked for Chief Justice Rehnquist, worked in the Reagan White House, and served as the principal deputy solicitor general in President George H.W. Bush's Justice Department.

As a jurist, Judge Roberts' approach will be that of his entire career: carefully, faithfully applying the Constitution and legal precedent.

He is a mainstream judge, respected across the ideological spectrum. Thus, he's earned praise from liberal icons such as Harvard Law Professor Larry Tribe, and Chicago Law Professor Cass Sunstein, as well as from Clinton Solicitors General Walter Dellinger and Seth Waxman, and Carter and Clinton Counsel Lloyd Cutler, the latter two of whom both described Roberts as a man of "unquestioned integrity and fair-mindedness."

As Professor Tribe observed Tuesday night, "It is clear that in the absence of some serious objection that is not now visible . . . he is very likely to be confirmed.”

The Senate should confirm him swiftly."

Ted Cruz is bashing John Roberts after years of praising him.

At least Roberts works cheap. He only makes $258,100 a year.

Judge Judy makes $47,000,000 a year. But her decisions make more sense.

it’s shocking that Ted Cruz is being attacked by worshippers of a lifelong liberal, and they’re getting away with it on FR.

No truer words...

Thanks Ted.

See! Ted Cruz has an outstanding record of suporting true Conservatives such as Chief Justice Roberts! If it weren’t for Chief Justice Roberts we would still have Obamacare!

Cruz supported Roberts in 2005.

Trump supported Hillary in 2008, and McConnell in 2014.

There's no attack, just a factual look at an aspect of Cruz' past, or is that not allowed? There will be SC openings in the next administration, just a look at how Cruz lined up regarding a SC nominee years ago. Cruz is the one who bills himself as the "Consistent Conservative".

“That was a mistake and I regret that” is what Cruz said about his support of Roberts. Has Trump ever admitted making a mistake?

“OH PLEASE. Roberts had EVERYONE fooled. I don’t think you can blame him for John Roberts.”

A “True Christian Conservative” should have seen through it.

Ted Cruz recruited Roberts TWICE. They’d been friends for years. Bush had never heard of him. Cruz is the reason we have Obamacare and all that grandstanding against it was just that.
