A Tale of Two Shiftys'
There is a bigger controversy about to break wide-open that's potentially far more significant than Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell approving Nikki Haley's non-subtle attack on GOP frontrunner Donald Trump. That bigger controversy is the Spanish version of the GOP State of the Union rebuttal containing an "amnesty pledge".
As this is written, Governor Nikki Haley is trying to get out ahead of the building expose'. Haley just gave a DC press conference claiming she does not support "amnesty"; however, against her earlier admission of Speaker Ryan and Leader McConnell approving the script - the Spanish version must have held similar approvals.
Governor Haley gave the English version, Miami Representative and party-insider Mario Diaz-Barlat delivered it in Spanish. Here's a (paragraph by paragraph) comparison as translated by the Miami Herald:
English (Via Haley): No one who is willing to work hard, abide by our laws, and love our traditions should ever feel unwelcome in this country.
Spanish (Via Diaz-Barlat): No one who is willing to work hard, abide by our laws, and love the United States should ever feel unwelcome in this country. It's not who we are.
English: At the same time, that does not mean we just flat out open our borders. We can't do that. We cannot continue to allow immigrants to come here illegally. And in this age of terrorism, we must not let in refugees whose intentions cannot be determined.
Spanish: At the same time, it's obvious that our immigration system needs to be reformed. The current system puts our national security at risk and is an obstacle for our economy.
English: We must fix our broken immigration system. That means stopping illegal immigration. And it means welcoming properly vetted legal immigrants, regardless of their race or religion. Just like we have for centuries.
Spanish: It's essential that we find a legislative solution to protect our nation, defend our borders, offer a permanent and human solution to those who live in the shadows, respect the rule of law, modernize the visa system and push the economy forward.
English: I have no doubt that if we act with proper focus, we can protect our borders, our sovereignty and our citizens, all while remaining true to America's noblest legacies.
Spanish: I have no doubt that if we work together, we can achieve this and continue to be faithful to the noblest legacies of the United States.
As if anyone had any doubt who the repuglicans really are - Exhibit A
Whereâs the amnesty pledge ?
___________
Spanish: It’s essential that we find a legislative solution to protect our nation, defend our borders, offer a permanent and human solution to those who live in the shadows, respect the rule of law, modernize the visa system and push the economy for
It would be the “offer a permanent and human solution to those who live in the shadows”. Sounds like we are not deporting you fine folks at a minimum.
Permanent solution means-what?
I would like to see Trump (Cruz would be cool but he won’t) pull a Colonel Frank Slade and just say to all liberals and enemies of America, “FU too”!
I have no way of judging the accuracy of the English translation of the Spanish translation of the speech delivered in English, but I suspect if it went through a few more iterations it would have Haley saying “I, for one, welcome our new insect overlords”.
As others have already said, to defeat the Democrats, we must first defeat the Republicans.
Anyway GD those Rinos to infernal stinking hell. I'm sure going to enjoy changing my registration once I've been able to vote against all the RINOs in my state's primary.
It sounds like either ValJar or Obama wrote it
Thx, I just saw that over at CTH, and was going to see if it was posted here. And you had a ping for me. The GOP is pulling out all the stops. Traitorous to the core of their being with a few exceptions.
My question is why didn’t one or other of the spanish-speaking candidates speak up about this . . . unless they are totally complicit in the affair.
The Criminal Class has spoken. I don’t see why the hell we should have to abide by federal laws when the Congress to the POTUS breaks federal laws whenever they feel like it.
I was just thinking the same thing, to switch back to Independent, when a different thought came to me.
Maybe we should stay because they WANT us to leave. Maybe we can be a pain in the neck for them by remaining able to vote in local primary elections, where there might be a candidate here and there who is an honest patriot who loves their country.
. unless they are totally complicit in the affair.****************************
BINGO!!!
My question is why didn’t one or other of the spanish-speaking candidates speak up about this . . . unless they are totally complicit in the affair.

Good question.
English: “We cannot continue to allow immigrants to come here illegally.”
Spanish: (This space intentionally left blank by the GOPe)
Spanish: It's essential that we find a legislative solution to protect our nation, defend our borders, offer a permanent and human solution to those who live in the shadows, respect the rule of law, modernize the visa system and push the economy forward.
Good question.
Thanks for the ping.
I don't know - 'permanent solution' sounds a lot like 'final solution'. I would recommend that the illegals get out of here while they can.
