My last great grandparent died when I was 36.
I grew up in my little hometown of Hanover Michigan with grandparents and great grandparents less than 5 minutes walk away and ended up conservative.
My cousins all grew up in Ann Arbor, Kalamazoo, and Minneapolis and almost all of them grew up super liberal.
I’ll take small town life every time...this little country village we’re in doesn’t even show up on most maps. Big cities don’t appeal to me.
I had a liberal aunt. She moved to Houston, Texas and became more so. Clinton could do not wrong with her.
One of my Ann Arbor cousins lives in Chicago and is surprisingly conservative as she’s gotten older and had kids.
She’s what I call urban conservative. Moderate liberal really but that’s a lot better than her militant lesbian cousin.
Oh, Lord. I have a friend with a militant lesbian sister. That woman holds the entire family hostage with her tantrums and demands. I can’t figure out why they tolerate it, but they do.
My sincere condolences on your loss cc. Your Grandmother must have been a special God-centered woman. Godspeed to her. She is in a better place now.

Yes. Everyone was old in my family before they got to doing business. My mother was 40 and I was 39 when I had my daughter. My grandfather was in the Cavalry for the South. He had to provide his own horse. I doubt many people have a grandfather who served in the Civil war ...
