Griffey got 99.3%?

Somebody point out that 0.7 to me so we can send the Mariner Moose over to straighten him out.

Seems right. Always liked the blue collar Italian Piazza.

3 voters. I’m guessing it’s “no one has ever been inducted unanimously, so no one should ever be inducted unanimously” crap.

I think sending Marge Schott would be more effective.

Personally I don’t like Griffey (not a likable person). But like other deserving HOFers. He certainly is HOF material. Congrats to Jr. And Piazza. Two of baseball’s greats.

Mike Piazza, HOF. Not bad for 62nd round draft pick, and then only picked because Tommy Lasorda was his godfather. How could all the scouts have missed him?

Two interesting factoids mentioned on NYC sports radio this evening:

1. Griffey is the first #1 draft pick in the Baseball Hall of Fame.

2. Piazza is the lowest drafted player (62nd round) in the Hall of Fame.

They forgot Pete Rose...

You got that right!

The Baseball HOF is a joke as long as the all time hits leader Pete Rose isn't a member. I, for one, will boycott that establishment until that changes. And I'm not alone...

Babe Ruth and Willie Mays didn’t even get 99.3%, so I wouldn’t take it too seriously. LOL.

MLB thrives on late bloomers. Heroic high school players that look like 25-year olds seldom make it in MLB. But there are alot of 30-year old MLB players that almost look like high-schoolers.

Not bad, indeed. Especially when you consider that the draft is now only 40 rounds. Even accounting for expansion, there are only 1,200 picks (give or take a few compensatory picks), and so Piazza (the 1,390th pick) wouldn't have been drafted...

Absolutely not! Pete Rose belongs in the Hall of Fame! Period!

I had the pleasure of watching him, a lot, when I worked in the Philly area. A more dedicated, hard nosed and hustling player didn't exist then, before and definitely, not now! The prima donna's out there now couldn't hold a candle to Pete Rose!

The Hall of Fame doesn't actually make the decision about keeping Pete Rose out. His banishment from baseball makes him ineligible under the Hall's eligibility requirements.

It's Major League Baseball, not the Hall of Fame, that is really driving this.

Pete Rose's accomplishments as the all-time hits leader and member of one of the greatest teams ever are in their rightful place at the HOF.

Pete Rose himself is in his rightful place on the outside looking in. He broke THE rule. Repeatedly. And without remorse, or even an inkling that what he did was wrong. Pete Rose is the only person to blame for Pete Rose not being in the Hall of Fame.

Then again Pete Rose broke the major rule of baseball by gambling in baseball.

Pete Rose the player, as a player, is one of the all time greats.

Pete Rose the man, gambled on baseball when in a position to affect the outcomes of games. How to reconcile that is the heart of the issue with Pete Rose.
