Griffey got 99.3%?

Somebody point out that 0.7 to me so we can send the Mariner Moose over to straighten him out.

Seems right. Always liked the blue collar Italian Piazza.

Personally I don’t like Griffey (not a likable person). But like other deserving HOFers. He certainly is HOF material. Congrats to Jr. And Piazza. Two of baseball’s greats.

Mike Piazza, HOF. Not bad for 62nd round draft pick, and then only picked because Tommy Lasorda was his godfather. How could all the scouts have missed him?

Two interesting factoids mentioned on NYC sports radio this evening:

1. Griffey is the first #1 draft pick in the Baseball Hall of Fame.

2. Piazza is the lowest drafted player (62nd round) in the Hall of Fame.

Probably the same three that left Joe Shlabotnik of the vote in 1970

While I think this year the writers got it right, in the last couple decades it has become the Hall of Really Good. I’ve never understood how a guy gets in after his first year on the ballot. Nothing about their career changed, yet they’re suddenly hof material. Piazza, among others should have gone in on the first ballot.

I’m not sure about these two at all.

Listened to Hank Aaron on MLB radio the other day, I think he is Griffeys Godfather and even he said that Jr. was injured a lot.

Piazza wasn’t even mentioned, they were talking about Raines.
