A senator who spent New Year's Eve tweeting every shooting that had multiple victims in 2015 is at the White House today to help President Obama craft his gun-control executive order.
Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) -- who tweeted as the San Bernardino terrorist attack unfolded, "Your 'thoughts' should be about steps to take to stop this carnage. Your 'prayers' should be for forgiveness if you do nothing - again" -- told MSNBC today that he didn't know what Obama had planned, but he's sure it will be legal.
"My belief is that he is well within his powers, the executive, to simply put some parameters around existing law," Murphy said. "Right now, existing law says that anyone who is engaged in the business of selling firearms has to conduct a background check. Well, the business of selling firearms has changed over the last 20 years. You now have individuals going to gun shows, selling firearms on the Internet, who might not have a bricks and mortar store but are essentially in the business of selling firearms just at trade shows and online."

Murphy added it would be "dangerous ground for Republicans" to battle the executive order.
"I'm sure that my Republican colleagues in the House and Senate will try to block his executive action. They will not succeed. They won't get the votes in the Senate, and even if they did, the president would veto it," he said.

I’ve got a better idea. Why don’t the courts, the HOR, and the US Senate put some parameters in place to stop Obama from turning the US into a dictatorship?
Yeah, opposing gun control is a political loser...
No, wait, gun control is the proven political loser!
Being painfully stupid is a requirement, not an option. Flawed, first-class morons are so much easier to buy and control; only occasionally do truly sentient humans get elected to the Senate.
He is a Quisling.
Good question.
The President is NOT an Emperor.
Obama “Just Wants to ‘Put Some Parameters Around Existing Law’ on Guns”
Obama’s “just wants” are illegal under the Constitution. What if he “just wants” to dissolve Congress (I mean officially; the Republicans have done so unofficially)?
The president is not permitted to make law bound by the Constitution. This is making law, a law that constitutionally the citizens are not bound to keep. The first court case trying to prosecute someone for violating his executive order will shoot the order down, that is if the Republicans don’t have the guts to go after it first.
There are only 380 days until this jerk is gone. Hold out!
Martha McCallum on FoxNews this morning was interviewing a gun regulations supporter.
McCallum asked him whether the new regs would stop typical mass killers and she specifically mentioned the gun violence in Chicago.
Id’ot said that many of the guns in south Chicago come from the rural areas in surrounding states. The new regs would cause those in rural areas to get background checks — before the guns end up in Chicago.
huh?????
Yeah - follow the illegal/un-constitutional rules from a guy who won’t obey/enforce longstanding laws...
Hell. I think it high time we ‘clarified of existing federal law’. Let’s clarify the 1934 & ‘64 ‘laws’ against the plain, simple English of ‘...shall NOT be infringed’.
To HELP clarify, if the GOP had an oz. of smarts, I would be passing laws that attach the same ‘common sense restrictions’ of the 2nd on voting, abortions, welfare, 1st Amendment, etc.
Let the Libs heads explode as they attempt to rectify one with the other.
Obama can stick his executive orders up his a$$
The only thing Rubio needed was a re-labeling; it sure fooled most (we in FL, though...). When the label has no official position, no record, no teeth of enforcement, no weeding-out process, what do you expect?
Tommy (Boy): “Because they know all they sold ya was a guaranteed piece of shit. That’s all it is, isn’t it? Hey, if you want me to take a dump in a box and mark it guaranteed, I will. I got spare time. But for now, for your customer’s sake, for your daughter’s sake, ya might wanna think about buying a quality product from me.”
“...The first court case trying to prosecute someone for violating his executive order will shoot the order down, that is if the Republicans donât have the guts to go after it first.”
Oh, if that were ONLY true, there would be no 1934/64 ‘law’ to be debating.
HCare, let alone insurance, is NOT an enumerated power, yet D.C. was able to pass a ‘tax’ to ‘fun’ just that AND HAVE IT RULED LEGAL (Hell, the court ITSELF re-wrote the law).
2x-Hell, the courts never slapped down Teddy when he ‘created’ the National Parks!!
I wish more people would finally come to the realization the system is BROKEN. Been for over 100 yrs.
And I, unfortunately, live in the state with the stupid voters that elected him! And lying Richard Blumenthal too! First thing I'm doing when I retire is getting the heck out of CT!
Police can only arrest violators of the law. Otherwise it is unlawful imprisonment and all actions related would be illegal and unauthorized.
A prosecutor bringing a case before a judge in pre-trial lays the case out as not a violation of any law, but a violation of an executive order and the judge will state there is no jurisdiction to move the case forward.
Congress needs to pull a presser and state this while making it clear that anyone following those instructions are doing so as a rouge entity without government protections or backing.

Trump should then pull a presser and state that any government employee that goes rogue and follows those illegally presented bolt-ons to existing laws WILL BE FIRED and WILL BE investigated for arrest and prosecution once he gets into office.
So, it's M. Stanton Evans's fault..."After our guy is elected, he stops being our guy."
Evans called it....
