Swiss army chief Andre Blattmann warned, in a Swiss newspaper article on Sunday, the risks of social unrest in Europe are soaring. Recalling the experience of 1939/1945, Blattman fears the increasing aggression in public discourse is an explosively hazardous situation, and advises the Swiss people to arm themselves and warns that the basis for Swiss prosperity is "being called into question."

I’m an old man, so I could be mistaken, but I think the man was referring to armed in all places and at all times ... as in carry a loaded tool everywhere you go. That sounds more like ‘get a good handgun and learn how to use it’.
Are you referring to ballistic or just the ones with pockets?
Wouldn’t mind one with pockets for ballistic plates. ;-) Maybe get the plates later? Any recommendations??
Men in the Swiss militia are require to keep military supplied weapons (but not military grade ammo) in their homes. They can have civilian ammo thou.

If you want multi-strike military grade, good luck. These are hard for civilians to get and may get you thrown under the jail. There is several DHS task forces running right now tracking down stolen armor from the military being sold out of country.
You may be able to get Dragonskins. These are multi-wafer ceramic discs and are kind of setup like chain-male (sp?) and will take multi-strike. They claim CL4 (I believe) and are 50% lighter than the old military ceramics that were single strike.
I was just about to pull the trigger (no pun intended) on buying a full set of tactical from them and backed out. Now I do not have the extra change to do it. Kick myself in my big arse every time I think about it. I have two phone numbers for Dragonskins and a contact name I will FReepmail you.
