Speaking with Fox News host Chris Wallace this weekend, 2016 GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump made a remarkable statement about what he planned for the Department of Education, if and when he becomes president.
"I may cut Department of Education," Trump said. "I believe Common Core is a very bad thing. I believe that we should be -- you know, educating our children from Iowa, from New Hampshire, from South Carolina, from California, from New York. I think that it should be local education."
Many Americans agree, especially as the Department of Education has grown into a massive bureaucracy more focused on indoctrinating students in the Islamic faith and "white privilege" than in actually teaching them things that matter, like, say, literature and math.
Plus, getting rid of the Department of Education would give parents much more power over what their children learn.
However, whether Trump could get actually rid of Common Core, which is his apparent goal, remains to be seen.
As The Daily Caller reporter Blake Neff explained, "While Common Core is promoted indirectly by the Department of Education, it is still adopted individually by state governments, and the federal government does not control it."
Still, it's a very worthwhile goal to consider since many parents are fed-up with Common Core's "one-size-fits-all" approach to education.
Frankly, education is much too important to be mass produced ... and thankfully, most Americans, including Donald Trump, get this.

Although Trump would be doing the right thing with respect to the federal governments constitutionally limited powers, constitutionally low-information Trump probably does not know that. Trumps supporters need to get him up to speed with the reality that the states have never delegated to the feds, expressly via the Constitution, the specific power to regulate, decide policy, are tax and spend for INTRAstate schools.
Why not? the money originates with the states anyway.
Ooh 14.2 billion out of 3 trillion. A couple of more cuts like that will mean nothing.
Don’t just stop at one, Donald. Virtually all the alphabet agencies need to go.
GO Trump!!!
Disagree. You fire all the AGs in the first 30 seconds. Make all First Assistants report directly to your person in DC (whom you’ve placed in a non-confirmation position). Prohibit by Presidential order all government prosecutions civil and criminal until cleared by your DC people. I’ve just cleaned up the Department of Justice in under a minute. It can be done.
Nice!
It should be six.
EPA is just as dangerous as any other agency is to the American Citizen as well as to the economy.
Its gotta go...
.
Everywhere I have lived, the primary burden of school expense lays upon the backs of local property tax payers. The fed money is candy in trade for sponsoring stupid programs like gay earth week. Since its inception, DEA has had a communist root problem.
Agreed.
DOJ needs to be cleaned top to bottom, remove all NSA surveillance of Americans and put some people in prison for life.
Nothing will change until this happens first.
Trump October 19th.
DOE
“The Federal Government is like the Mafia.”
Same with Canada. The dirty open secret why canada is still standing? It’s called the Equalization payments.
Just before canada became canada, Quebec bribed the rest of the provinces they will secede unless they put French as the national language. So the rest of the gutless provinces made sure they pony up to Quebec with payments. Makes the USA look like the Sisters of Mercy.
I would fire all of the existing rats in the Justice Department, too, but I wouldn’t abolish the entire Dept. Just stock it with people actually interested in justice.
Pretty good for an “unserious nonconservative”...isn’t this the one Rick Perry couldn’t remember?
Roger Hedgecock fan? G-d bless him....
Yes buy bye!
Appoint Carly to go in and raze it to the ground!
Today Trump said he “May” cut Dept. of Education.
What??? You have got to be kidding?
