It might have been a Merry Christmas for Donald Trump, but his Boxing Day sure doesn't look bad either. The GOP front-runner holds a 13 point lead over Ted Cruz - 33-20% in Arkansas. While this isn't too surprising, the fairly substantial lead that he has with about 10 weeks to go before the primary bodes well for his chances.
Donald Trump - 33%
Ted Cruz - 20%
Marco Rubio - 13%
Jeb Bush - 6%
Rand Paul - 6%
Ben Carson - 4%
Chris Christie - 3%
John Kasich - 3%
Carly Fiorina - <1%
Other - 8%
Undecided - 7%

Ugh - it's 10weeks out for crying out loud. There are 15% not even in there and most of these clowns will be out by then not to mention the SECs will be done and the picture will be changed.
Trumpeteers love all the polls that show him in front.
At least give us the polls that mean something.

This bodes very well for Trump indeed. Right in Cruz’s backyard.

Bodes very well for Trump, Arkansas being so close to Texas.

Arkansas is close to Texas. Therefore this bodes well for Trump.
To: Jane Long
Yes I'm for Cruz but will certainly vote for Trump if he gets the nod.
But this poll is meaningless and proves nothing. Doesn't prove that Trump can win in the South, doesn't prove that Cruz is weak next door to Texas.
It's light years away in political terms.

Arkansas is one of the southern states that got its Republican primary moved up. The last few were so late in the spring that the race was over by the time of the primary. In 2016, the state primary will be March 1.
It is very possible that the race will be over by mid March. However, several of the early primaries are open primaries. The GOP Establishment will likely be encouraging bipartisanship so Dems can cross over and vote against a couple of Republican primary contenders.
