Thereâs something the chattering classes along the Acela Corridor donât want to say about Donald Trump: Heâs the overwhelming favorite to win the Republican presidential nomination.
For the Republican Partyâs conservative â in more ways than one â establishment, itâs as if admitting that will make it come true. So instead, they squabble over who the ârealâ front-runner is, whether itâs Marco Rubio or Ted Cruz. Perhaps, the parlor wisdom holds, a dark horse like Chris Christie can overtake the field at the New Hampshire turn.
For the first few months, the Trump deniers â loud on national television, insistent on Twitter and ever-present in the nationâs leading print and digital outlets â could be called wishful thinkers. With the primaries just around the corner, as many otherwise smart political analysts keep waiting, aching, for conventional order to be restored, itâs time to call them what they are: delusional.
Trump is leading national polls by more than 20 points in a field with more than a dozen candidates. Nor is this just a Rudy Giuliani-style lead that doesnât translate to state contests....

Catching up to July .....
Another “it will be so bad for the Republican party if they nominate awful Donald Trump, oh dear, oh dear” column?
Anyone running for elected office other than President should show up at Trump rallies and shake hands with Trump’s supporters.
Wow - somebody really had that as Breaking News?
Had to be CNN or MSNBC.
One thing that should be clear is that voters aren’t interested in the GOPe candidates.
If you add Trump & Cruz supporters together, it’s over 50%.
Trump 35% & Cruz 17% = 52%
If you add Carson’s 10% supporters, it’s 62% that don’t want another GOPe candidate. It should be clear that voters are rejecting the GOPe.
Unfortunately, the GOPe would rather have Hillary win than a true conservative candidate. With Hillary, they can stay in power and continue with business as usual.
Wrong. Trump is the last desperate hope of born in America citizens.
The Grand Old Party will burn this land down before they embrace any part of what Trump is saying.
That pretty much says it for me as well.
The GOPe will never side with Trump. NEVER!
He’s the end of, or at least the delay in their plans, they can’t countenance.
“No no he’s not dead, he’s, he’s restin’! he’s...he’s, ah...probably pining for the fjords.”
the people pulling the strings will not let him win
And at around this time in 2008 for the GOP it was Rudy Giulani.
Just sayin... âº
I didn’t read it that way. He was just going over the ridiculous left who are in denial and telling them to suck it up
We will know all by March! 2016! Turmp may lose to Cruz in Iowa, Lose to Christie in New Hampshire, and win in Carolina. Then its all up to super Tuesday and the states of the old Confederacy. Its still an open race.
If it helps you to sleep at night by believing in the old fashioned “conventional wisdom”, more power to you.
But reality will pay you a visit soon.
This isn’t 2008. Or 2012. It’s damn near CWII. And we aren’t voting for politicians ever again.
HuffPost said they would only run stories about him in the “Entertainment” section.
I wonder if that’s still true?
I’m not sure but I think they caved and now cover him in news/politics.
