"I'm here. I'm alive. I'm human."
That's what John, one of the stars of A&E's new reality show "Born This Way," proclaimed during the premiere episode last week.
You see, John has Down syndrome.
It seems bizarre that someone capable of formulating a sentence thinks it's necessary to defend his own humanity, but sadly, John was speaking for himself and millions of others like him who, based on a prenatal genetic test, were recommended for abortion.
John survived. Most don't.
The statistics are hard to pin down, but experts estimate 90 percent of babies with Down syndrome are never born. Think about the last time you saw a child with the telltale facial features indicative of the genetic condition. It's far more likely you'll see them in an adult, who was born before prenatal testing became routine. That doesnât mean Down syndrome is becoming less prevalent; it means that parents are less and less likely to carry these pregnancies to term.

The abortionists and their enablers are no different from ISIS.

Hitler also killed babies with Down Syndrome. Why is it that evil always likes hurting the least of us?
It would be interesting to hear their argument against the comparison. Maybe if they tried to formulate one, they’d realize how wrong they are, but perhaps I’m giving them too much credit.
I respect those people who have been born, with or without any birth defects, but I cannot judge every one else by my perspective. Is it not a natural thing for parents to wish for and prefer a healthy baby, with manageable health status? This is far different than what Peter Singer of Princeton suggests, that a child can be ‘made dead’ up till the age of two if they have a poor quality of life. Slippery slopes!
And in some parts of the world, girl babies are aborted just because they are female. I’m always surprised the feminist types never talk about this.
We are on a slippery slope with this.
“Weeding out genetic diseases like Down, whose sufferers can and still do lead full and healthy lives, is eugenics, pure and simple. The most extreme version of which comes from the barbaric terrorists of ISIS, who reportedly issued a decree to execute babies born with Down and other genetic diseases.”
Has the Fraud’s Secretary of State chimed in yet to say that this is “legitimate”, and mention that of course, Sarah Palin has one?
How noble of you.
but I cannot judge every one else by my perspective.
So, you're "personally opposed, but..."

Mature adults should have long since learned that they don't always get what they wish for.

No, it's exactly the same as what Singer proposes.

This man is 50, has downs and is a lot smarter than your college age millennial libtard.
Remember, liberals want these people killed. That’s one of many reasons we should give no quarter to liberalism in this country whatsoever, and we need to press Preaident Trump or Cruz to completely eradicate liberalism by whatever means is necessary.
If there actually was a homosexual gene,(for those claiming to be born that way), I would be against abortion of that potential queer. If there was a maniacal tyrant or murderer gene(like Hitler, Stalin, Jeffery Dahmer, etc.) I would be against the abortion of the potential killer.
BTW, EVERY Down Syndrome person I have ever known is a real sweetheart.
I’m not speaking of Der Wanker or other dictators so much as the banal evil of unoppressed men, of these “complicity” comes to mind. And also “validation” for those who are already corrupt.
Romans 1:28-32, the second turning over described in that short section, concludes with the idea that the depraved honor and celebrate others who do likewise. They fashion culture, even what may pass among them for high culture and not just low, around their sin even as they often pat themselves on the back for the “good” that they think is good that they do.
As it says: if the light in you is darkness then how great is that darkness!
Yes, and that is why loving parents provide the best care we're capable of. It's also why we don't murder our children for getting sick.
Which James Bond film was it where the maniacal gozillionaire scientist/sociologist was zipping into space with his perfect people to repopulate the utopia he was creating after depopulating earth and Ted Cassidy (Lurch) and his almost dwarf girlfriend where part of it until they realized they were marked for elimination?
That little boy is happy and healthy and the doctors were wrong. No. He doesn't have Down's or any other damn thing wrong with him.
That’s a brave couple who were well informed and still ready to accept whatever should happen. Admirable.
I don’t know the movie you’re talking about, but I do recognize the mindset. I’m struck by the irony of people demanding the extermination of others, based on criteria that would require their own extermination.
