On Monday night’s radio program, Conservative Review Editor-in-Chief Mark Levin called out Donald Trump for mimicking the statists and the Republican establishment by attacking rival Ted Cruz and Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia over the weekend.
Listen:
Listen to the audio at the link.
Levin cited three “reckless comments” made by Donald Trump.
First, Mr. Trump joined in with a leftist on CNN to dump on Justice Scalia, who’s comments during oral argument have been unfairly accused of being racist. Conservatives know better.
Second, Levin said that Mr. Trump’s insinuation that Ted Cruz is bought and paid for by Texas oil companies because he opposes ethanol was “stupid.” Ethanol subsidies are a “typical, big-government, Stalinist program” and conservatives know better than to criticize a candidate who opposes government waste. Announcing your support for ethanol subsidies because you’re campaigning in Iowa is pandering.
Thirdly, Levin declared that Mr. Trump sided with the Republican establishment when he called Sen. Cruz a “maniac” for refusing to go along with the Washington establishment in the Senate. Isn’t Mr. Trump himself running an anti-establishment campaign? Why would he adopt Establishment talking points to attack another conservative?
Levin went on to say that running a populist campaign by abandoning conservative principles is nothing more than liberalism. If Mr. Trump is a conservative, he should not be attacking another conservative from the left.
When a “conservative” candidate supports universal health care, Big Brother-type government surveillance, the PATRIOT ACT, eminent domain, and is against religious liberty, what he says about a Supreme Court justice or a political opponent is the least of my worries.
Fail to praise Trump, get thrown under the bus, LOL.
Conservatism wins if Trump implodes.
Screw everybody! Trump for President. The whole Supreme Court needs to review the Constitution and the many document our fore Fathers gave us. America is damn near lost and all of Government is screwing us. I’m now 84 and seen a lot of shi! under the bridge but this King Obama empire is the shit!est of them all.
Biased because it was done by conservatives.
And emperor? Yes be wary. However the greatest republic of all time Rome, would, if need arised, appoint a dictator for a set period of time to deal with an threat that threaten its' existence. Sadly the USA has no provision to copy Rome then its' existence is similarly threatened. As it is now by globalist policies.
In the interest of fairness I must point out that eventually dictators became emperors so maybe it's a good thing we can't copy Rome. Maybe.
Nice try with your graph but you have convinced me more and more that Trump is the real deal. What a joke your graph.
Sounds like scream scream scream, why can’t people UNDERSTAND, we need to DO THE CONSTITUTION!
Well, I guess the question is, what constitution. The slavery issue is off the table now thanks to amendment, but even that proved that just because you have constitution doesn’t mean you have unalloyed goodness.
Now how about the weak point that enables judicial supremacy? We did that constitution right into gay marriage and virtually unlimited abortion. Ah but that is the wrong thing to do, you say... and I most heartily agree. However the constitution does not look to any larger right or wrong... except for one concept and it is in danger of being relegated to symbolism: “We The People” at the top.
It looks like Trump, for all his faults and failings, has an idea of a valid American agenda that starts with that “We The People” entity. Hmmm, how fitting!
Get the people engaged, with them being responsible in turn for looking as best they can to God, and maybe things will change to the better. If the constitution wasn’t so easily enabling things that are to cry about today, maybe it would get more “respeck,” dig?
You don’t like his voice? Sheesh! Don’t listen!
If the personality is God, yes it will. And God’s actors as prescribed by the American idea are not the politicians but “We The People.”
It looks in many ways like Donald has been appointed to shepherd such a process, even though he may ill understand what is happening.
How dare you bring reason and logic to a hate Trump thread.
Oh come on, don't be obtuse. When a Presidential candidate stands before a crowd in Iowa and says that he supports ethanol, EVERYONE knows that he is referring to ethanol subsidies.
Please see my tagline.
You want a praiseable idol, is your problem.
The ethanol subsidies expired in 2011 so no, everyone does not know that.
And now Levin is the devil.
Some people need to get a grip.
which is exactly what the Dems say and the establishment.
Trump needs to knock it off or I as a Trump supporter will forget about him.
That opinion seems to be the consensus around here where I live too
‘Levinâs best buddy is Cruz. We will see how much he cares about ratings because YUGE number in his audience are for Trump. Your move Mark’
Are you sure Levin’s audience includes Trump supporters? Why wouldn’t they have tuned him out after he direly threatened Trump for merely mentioning the things Carson himself included in his own book?
Literally, Levin has actually DONE more things to help the conservative cause than almost anyone alive through Landmark. So Trump, after a lifetime of DOING things only for himself, and SAYING liberal things, starts SAYING things that sound conservative and he’s good and Levin is bad.
Also Trumps comments about Scalia was another mistake, but that tends me to lea tot hew question of. What does he really think?
