On Monday night’s radio program, Conservative Review Editor-in-Chief Mark Levin called out Donald Trump for mimicking the statists and the Republican establishment by attacking rival Ted Cruz and Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia over the weekend.
Listen:
Listen to the audio at the link.
Levin cited three “reckless comments” made by Donald Trump.
First, Mr. Trump joined in with a leftist on CNN to dump on Justice Scalia, who’s comments during oral argument have been unfairly accused of being racist. Conservatives know better.
Second, Levin said that Mr. Trump’s insinuation that Ted Cruz is bought and paid for by Texas oil companies because he opposes ethanol was “stupid.” Ethanol subsidies are a “typical, big-government, Stalinist program” and conservatives know better than to criticize a candidate who opposes government waste. Announcing your support for ethanol subsidies because you’re campaigning in Iowa is pandering.
Thirdly, Levin declared that Mr. Trump sided with the Republican establishment when he called Sen. Cruz a “maniac” for refusing to go along with the Washington establishment in the Senate. Isn’t Mr. Trump himself running an anti-establishment campaign? Why would he adopt Establishment talking points to attack another conservative?
Levin went on to say that running a populist campaign by abandoning conservative principles is nothing more than liberalism. If Mr. Trump is a conservative, he should not be attacking another conservative from the left.
Why?
Funny how everyone needs crooks to protect their status quo. Even radio announcers.
Ethanol is more polluting than oil, is harmful to automotive engines, is more expensive than American oil, and drives up the price of corn. It amounts to a subsidy to corn-growers.
Are we at the point where we care not about what is true?
If we can care even if an illiberal liberal has said something true (even if his or her purpose is to mercilessly bash America because of it) then we are on the way to a more honest America as a whole.
HOWEVER. We can’t have private judges, juries, and executioners when it comes to the questions of truth (otherwise we get something like a Norm Lenhart, the amazing astounding critiquer of all with no actual foundation beyond rhetoric, and I have been round and round that circus ring quite enough times). We must confess what we have all commonly acknowledged as truth, even against our wills sometimes.
Baby Cruz can’t look after himself, he need Rush and Levin to protect him. Are they going to protect him for rest of his life? Seriously !!
Trump is not calling anyone, he is fighting his fight himself.
Yawn. Go home with your “victory” monsieur judge, jury, and executioner. The rest of us have real things to do.
Something like that.
So you are fine with Obama policies as long as immigration is fixed? That’s Trump. Oh, except for his support for single payer healthcare...even Obama didn’t go that far.
“Bug eyed, barking chihuahua with spittle on the window”
Lol. Levin is often right but also totally annoying. Unfortunately, in elections, being right isn’t always decisive. Cruz is right, too, but has that air of sanctimony that the left is EXPERT in demonizing.
And when there is a mandate to use a certain percentage of ethanol in fuels, that mandate creates an artificial market for ethanol, which acts as a backdoor subsidy.
You want a liberal.
I’m thankful to God for giving me the discernment to tell between one of that tribe and a Constitutional conservative.
Cruz supported the legislation that ENABLES TPP and two other job killing anti sovereignty secrete trade deals, TPA. He even wrote and op-ed in the Wall Street Journal urging the Senate to pass TPA. Cruz is try to pull the classic DC insider ploy of being for it before he was against it. Vote for the legislation that enables the deal then hypocritically vote against the deal.
Without TPA there is no TPP. With TPA we will likely get TPP. Cruz screwed the American people by supporting, when it counted, TPA.
Bull!
A few weeks ago I read a very insightful piece by Gary North on Conservatism and the fact that Conservatism per se really doesn’t stand for anything. It has no Ideology or Philosophy behind it. After some research I find that Mr. North is correct.
What is passed off as Conservatism are elements of Libertarianism and Free Market Capitalism.
At this point I want practical and logical and Trump is who can win. I am not concerned or do I care if Trump is Conservative, I want to win.
Fantastic! Now we have a Trump supporter, on record, musing that Trump should be Emperor!
Thats 4 posts with no proof of your assertion.
Thank you for proving what your integrity is worth. Nothing.
Yeah, some guy who used to go on Howard Stern's show and discuss his personal sexual habits.
Go back far enough and you can catch Trump calling for all manner of things he doesn’t call for any more.
Oh I most heartily agree with you: you have won a private victory in the amazing grounds of your own head. Enjoy it by all means. Far be it from me to interfere with your adamant conclusion. Without choice, this world is meaningless.
Thats 5 posts with no proof of your assertion. I’d say my ‘victory is apparent to anyone reading the thread.
You’re thankful to God for your ego. Check.
