DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has finally unleashed a verbal assault on the one rival he has so far spared.
Trump went after Ted Cruz at a town hall event in Iowa Friday evening, accusing the Texas senator of being beholden to big oil companies because he opposes ethanol subsidies, which are deeply popular in this agricultural state.

You will say anything in order to win, eh? No principles! What else have you been saying just to win?
DON RICKLES FOR PRESIDENT!
He’s a straight talker!
By the way, the speaking-without-a-lectern thing, it looks familiar. Who else has been doing it before you do?
The newest and one of the weakest arguments against Trump.
Was on TV this morning and had nice things to say about Ted.
I’ve read from those who heard the speech, it was more in jest with a bunch of praise thrown in.
And HOW DARE he try to win an election.
and I Love ted more than trump, but he was recorded saying he was being nice to trymp and carson to get their votes when the fell.
what will TED STOOP TO!!! /S
Well Cruz hit him first. You really did not expect a no reaction did you?
LOL
Verbal Assault? lol that’s a verbal assault? You c
Cruz people are funny too bad Cruz is unlikeable to the electorate
So Cruz has the guts to come out against one of the worst programs ever and Trump thinks that’s a bad thing. Trump is buffoon and I’ll vote for Cruz or Rubio not Trump.
He's only unlikeable to people who don't like conservative candidates.
You Cruz zealots fall for Pure crap from nut job Glen Beck .
Beck is a loon.
Did I say verbal assault? I said he’s a borscht-belt comedian.
I’m more concerned about the open border/TPA loving big $$$ behind Cruz.

âHeâs a nice guy. I mean, everything I say he agrees with me, no matter what I say.â
This cracks me up -— notice why he said Ted is nice? And notice how Trump since running advocates for what have been Cruz’s policies for a long time, while Trump was voting for bambi and supporting his stimulus, car grab and giving large sums to the clinton foundation. And infers that Cruz has hijacked his policies.
That’s unleashed?
I guess the blaze is anti trump
Any politician is beholden to his donors. We say that here all the time
It’s true.
They can’t even think, much less work for the American people
It takes an enormous amount of money to run a campaign. Do people think he can run a campaign on an attorney generals salary. On a senators salary. On what his wife brings in from the stock market?
Do people think donors care a bit about the constitution?
Come on
Beck sold out to the open border lobbyists of Freedom works and Amer. for prosperity. He lost his Fox and CNN gigs...

You can be against it all you want. It’s not going away and Cruz might have added...”only kidding”.
It is called campaigning and that is what politicians do. Trump mixed in weird criticism while saying he loves Ted. You see he wants Cruz voters, therefore heavily laced “love” while wacking him on his religion and saying he is beholden to big oil?
Cruz is polling better against Hilary at RCP averages than Trump is.
If you watched the Trump rally last night which I’m sure you did you know that Trump made a few light remarks. It could not be construed as an attack by any stretch of the imagination. LOL!
