Donald Trump, speaking to the Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC), repeatedly said that Jews won't vote for him because, since he isn't accepting donations, they will not be able to control him with their money.
“You are not going to support me even though you know I am the best thing that could happen for Israel. I know why you are not going to support me. You’re not going to support me because I don’t want your money,” Trump told a full auditorium of Jewish donors and Republican Jewish supporters. “You want to control your own politicians.”
This plays into anti-Semitic claims that Jews control the country with their money. Has he said this to any other group? Has he told evangelicals that they won't vote for him because they can't control him with their donations? No. Only the Jews.
It is totally bizarre that he would say something so offensive to Jewish voters. Furthermore, why would he ever tell any group of voters that they are not going to vote for him? If that's true, why did he even speak to them? It's a defeatist attitude.
I don't believe, on the basis of this alone, that Donald Trump is an anti-Semite, but these statements put his judgement into question.
Furthermore, he displayed stunning ignorance of what is going on in Israel. He said that once he is president, he is optimistic that with his deal-making skills he can bring peace between the Israelis and Palestinians in six months, or perhaps less, if both are "committted" to peace.

Who is saying he was being anti-Semitic? Everyone who isn’t bootlicking and excusing every word he says are saying it’s a stupid and insulting thing to say. Clear difference between that and anti-Semitic.
“If I am truly a conservative...” You’re going to tell me how I need to think and vote?
No.
Since you asked I have always believed that Cruz is the one candidate smart enough to COMPLETELY WIPE THE FLOOR with Hillary. He is also a REAL conservative.
“Trump... He’s great but he says dumb crap all the time” is fine for many people - it’s not fine for me. Trump is great - I love the guy - but I wonder whether he can actually win an election or whether THE CRAP HE SAYS SLICED AND DICED INTO DEM CAMPAIGN ADS WILL COST US AN ELECTION.
If I were a Democrat I would PRAY Trump got the GOP nomination.
TDS on display.
Cruz might “wipe the floor” with Hillary in the debates, but he will lose the election to her.
Cruz appeals to only the rightest-most conservatives. He doesn’t draw the crossover votes from more centered Republicans and Democrats.
If you read the news, you will see the Democrats are doing everything they can to take Trump out of this campaign. Why??? Because they know they would lose in an embarrassing fashion.
Perhaps he may talk too much, but he’s winning my vote along the way.
ping....
I understand trump saying, “I don’t want your money.” But to what group does he say, “You won’t vote for me because you can’t control me with your money.”?
Obviously, he can’t believe that he won’t get votes because no one can control him with money. He does not believe this generally of people, because, then he’d be wasting his time.
If he believed that no one would support him because they can’t control him with money, then his expectation would be that he’s going to lose, bigtime.
I can only conclude that saying this to a Jewish audience was unfiltered Jew-hatred. Disgusting.
“Nonsense. He says this about all big donors.”
Yes. This is distorted and convoluted all ways around.
I am surprised to see such a yellow piece in American Thinker.
We should remember Ed Straker, the author.
Just the media filling ‘mush heads’ with lies again....
Trump’s daughter and son-in-law are Jewish, he has a good relationship with the Jewish people in New York City...
He is going to Israel to meet with BiBi, when BiBi asked him to make an ad for him, Trump did...
So what’s so bad about what Trump said?????? or are people just trying again to make something out of nothing.....
Because he wants their support and their votes.
Not their money.
Or anybody elses.
He has said the same thing to every group he has spoken to.
You can tell the truth w/o pandering or insulting.
Re: Can you please, for our benefit, cite a reliable source for that?
Can you stop playing dumb and stop posting from these rino outlets? You call it anti-semitism but he has said this at EVERY RALLY ABOUT EVERY LOBBYING GROUP AND SPECIAL INTEREST. They will not control him with their money. I know you are for Rubio vs Cruz but please try to be more fair in the articles you chose to post.
Well, this columnist obviously didn’t listen to the speech or if he did, purposely was very selective in what he reported.
I don’t believe you listened to the speech, what the article reported is very untrue. In addition, Trump’s daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren are Jewish.
RE: Can you stop playing dumb and stop posting from these rino outlets? You call it anti-semitism
I am not playing dumb, I am asking you for reliable sources.
As for anti-semitism, I never used the word at all so please do not put words that I never wrote...
I disbelieve he said negative things to Jews. His daughter is an Orthodox Jew. His grandkids are Jewish.
Don Rickles made a career of it. They kept coming back for more. And he laughed all the wat to the bank. Go Donald
Sure. We need to get rid of money in politics. Give the media more power.
Maybe the Democrats and McCain can get on this.
Right?
Howard Richman to McFire -- 24 minutes agoI just watched the speech on You-Tube. I am Jewish and was not offended. He said, during the speech, that he knew many of the people in the audience. He was addressing them as businessmen, like himself, who had been involved in negotiations, like himself.
He echoed an opinion with which I concur when he said that Jewish influence on American politicians is largely through large campaign contributions. Those contributions may be the only thing preventing the Democrat Party's politicians from joining its leftist base in openly anti-Israel positions.
I was convinced that he is pro-Israel by his sincerity, in that he says what he thinks. Obama said that he was pro-Israel when he was running, but he was simply reading a teleprompter.
