Republican presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson doubled down on his previous language this morning, saying that al Qaeda was not an existential threat to the United States in 2001 and 2003.
Today, he told ABC News that ISIS is more of a threat now than al Qaeda was in 2001 and 2003.
"They weren’t nearly as developed as they are now -- at that point,†Carson said in response to an ABC News question. "That was my point. This is so much greater a threat than that was.â€
Carson also said the attacks on the World Trade Center in 2001 "didn’t require a great deal of sophistication.â€
“Yeah, but being responsible for the Sept. 11 attacks, what happened right there really didn’t require a great deal of sophistication because we were not paying attention,†Carson told ABC News. "We were not coordinating our efforts so you didn’t have to be all that great, you had to be able to fly some planes and get a couple of people in here. That’s going to be a lot more difficult to do now. You’re going to have to be a lot more sophisticated than that now.â€

Nothing wrong with what he is saying. Even today IS/al Qaeda are not a threat to our existence. They threaten our lives, randomly.
Our own liberals are a greater threat to our existence.
But Carson is getting lost in the weeds for a campaign. It’s academic chat.

Four plans, taking off from different places, attempting to hit four different places at about the same time and THAT didn't take any "sophistication?
al-Qaeda and ISIS weren't/aren't a "threat" to us ?

He doesn't know about Fort Hood, the Boston Bomber Brothers, the several, thankfully failed plots, to blow up Times Square, and many other such things? I bet he doesn't even know that al-Qaedda tried to bl.ow uo the WTC, prior to 9/11 with car and truck bombs, which only managed to kill and injure many, but didn't bring either building down.
Whoever convinced him to run and whoever is for him, all should be given nice padded cells and electric shock treatment. Dr. Ben needs stronger treatments !
Back then, as now, the Mohammedan groups are always shopping for nukes. The may bribe one away from Pakistan or Russia and then hide it in a freighter and when it pull into a U.S. port like San Diego or Bayonne...Boom. The aftermath would include some degree of an economic meltdown.
Maybe Dr. Carson doesn’t know what “existential” means?

And there are some other things they could do that might be more of a threat to our existence.
Yet, even nukes going off in a few places is not as much a threat to us existing as a nation as are the liberals who want to fundamentally change us.
Look at England. They are ceasing to exist and it has been completely of their own doing when liberals took over.
Did you deliberately misstate what the man said or did you not bother to read or listen to the video?
Do you really think a group of guys armed with box cutters will be able to hijack planes again and fly them into buildings? The various intelligence departments were disjointed at the time if you will recall? No, it did not take a high degree of sophistication. They caught us with our pants down. It will indeed require a higher degree of sophistication to do the damage that was done on 911. It would require a dirty bomb or the like to equal 3000 people.
The man is not, nor has ever been, a threat to your candidate. He was never going to stay up in the polls. You can cease the vicious, lying attacks. Are you purposefully trying to turn others off to your candidate?
There was a thread earlier with a comment about idiots calling others idiots. I do believe it applies here.
If you have a reading disability, I suggest you work on that before making such inflammatory comments. Maybe read the articles several times first; although there WAS a video to help you, but I digress.

I think Carson was referring to the actual flying of the planes and not the actual planning of the 9/11 attack when he refers to sophistication..
Flying a plan is actually not so difficult as compared to say taking one off and the even more difficult act of safely landing.
Carson has devolved into a fool. He should leave this race before he completely destroys his credibility.

Why do you feel the need to attack so personally to defend Carson?
Really? Those buildings were 208 ft on each side. I’d like to see him put a 757 into a 208 ft wide window at 500-600 mph at 600-700 ft altitude under that sort of stress.
