Poll: Do you agree with Trump that tough French gun laws led to more deaths in terrorist attacks?

As France and the rest of the world comes to grips with Friday night's horrific terrorist attacks in and around Paris that claimed at least 129 lives, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is blaming tough gun control laws in France for the dimensions of the tragedy.

At a rally in southeast Texas Saturday afternoon, Trump told the crowd "nobody had guns but the bad guys."

"You can say what you want, but if they had guns -- if our people had guns, if they were allowed to carry -- it would have been a much, much different situation," Trump said, according to a Washington Post report. "I hear it all the time, you know. You look at certain cities that have the highest violence, the highest problem with guns and shootings and killings -- Chicago is an example, toughest gun laws in the United States, nothing but problems."

By making that comment the Washington Post observed, Trump doubled down on a message he tweeted in January, following a smaller-scale terrorist attack: "Isn't it interesting that the tragedy in Paris took place in one of the toughest gun control countries in the world?"

As that dated tweet recirculated on Friday evening, the French ambassador to the United States, Gerard Araud, tweeted at Trump: "This message is repugnant in its lack of any human decency. Vulture."

What's your thoughts?

I absolutely agree with Trump. Do the math.

The theater gunmen were able to reload ... repeatedly.

If just ONE good guy with a gun took down just ONE terrorist, that would cut the number of rounds pumped into innocent victims by 30, 60, 90 ... ? And if our heroic concert-goer grabbed the terrorists Kalashnikov and turned it on the other terrorist(s) then the amount of empty brass on the theater floor would be even more dramatically reduced.

The root cause of gun-free zones is that our Overlords don’t trust us. Unless you attend a Police Academy, you (we) are too dangerous and unstable to be trusted with deadly force. But sit through those classes and suddenly you become the ONLY ONE who CAN be so entrusted. Madness.

If the ISIS rag-heads attack in the USA, it will be in a state like Massachusetts or NYC, where there is very little concealed carry. They would never stage in Texas or Alabama
but Obama is trying to change that by putting thousands of Syrians in red states in his demographic warfare on America.

ISIS drawing down in a Texas concert hall would have one result: Freedoms lead up their respective a$$es.

And yes, if France were free, then it would be the same result there. But France is not free, regardless of what the liberal fascists running Europe and the current one in the White Hut say.Not one private gun was brought to bear out of 1000 people in that Bataclan concert hall. No France is hardly a free country.

Like New York City gun control laws and gun control laws in other areas more locally influenced by big media?

Yes, I agree with Trump.

And .. somebody in the media said that if the people of Paris had been able to carry a weapon .. probably more than 100 people would have been saved.

Now that Caliph Obama sees how well the strict gun laws worked in France he will be more determined than ever to bring stricter gun control to the USA>

Sorry. All of France is NOT a gun free zone. In the countryside, small towns, farms, etc. people own guns and know how to use them. As it is in the USA, gun free zones are where large groups of people gather...mostly entertainment or learning centers and they are gun free therefore are nothing but “killing fields.”

My thoughts are that if the Paris attacks happened in Detroit, Michigan, nothing much would have changed. Concealed carry in Michigan is prohibited in stadiums and night clubs, and the restaurant attacks were drive-bys with no time for response by the victims.

That being said, I still want my Second Amendment rights to remain intact, and I want to see those rights extended to every city in the United States, and ultimately the world.

And if you blow up the oil fields, you’re crippling economies worldwide.
...............................................................
Disagree. The Muzzies get their money from Oil. There is far and away enough oil in the world to pick up the slack without crippling a western state’s economy. Common sense says cut off their power by cutting off their oil. it’s not a new thought. There were a lot of sorties flown by the 8th Air Force to cut off Hitler’s supply of oil. Strike the muzzies economy in the heart and you stop a lot of their ability to export terror.

So, a room full of unarmed citizens who are being attacked have the same chance of survival as a room full (or partially full) of armed citizens? Of course citizens need to be armed. Everyone is in a war with savages who will attack random people, anywhere.

Given the details of the tactics used, it's not at all clear that an armed citizenry (short of a populace which commonly toted Uzi machine pistols) would have helped that much in this instance. That is in contrast to the Kenyan shopping mall attack where a more broadly armed citizenry would almost certainly have decreased the total casualties -- a lot of lives were saved in that attack by Kenyans who did have permits rushing to the site and providing covering fire for people to escape.

Yep. At that music venue, perhaps full of 1200 people, there were probably two shooter terrorists. There was no hope for the initial victims shot from behind and above, nor from grenades tossed at them. But there were plenty of people hunkered down on the floor powerless to do anything. There were pauses as the terrorists reloaded. If any one of the 1200 people had a gun and retaliated against the two terrorists the victim count might be far far lower. All it would take is one patriot with a gun.

I agree that an armed citizenry would have helped perhaps in keeping the death toll down especially at the concert venue where after the initial spraying of gunfire, the terrorists then had people lie down on the floor and then systematically shot them one by one. A couple of armed citizens may have died too but at least not before taking out one or more of the murderers before they killed even more.

In the Kenyan shopping mall attack there were armed citizens who did save lives by shooting back and providing cover for the innocents to escape.

But as for the people sitting at the cafes or near the windows of the restaurants hit, they never had a chance. Even if they had been armed, these were from what I understand drive by shootings from a moving car.
