Ben Carson has surged into a statistical dead heat with Donald Trump in the race for the 2016 GOP nomination, a new poll shows.
According to an NBC/Wall Street Journal poll released Sunday, Trump still leads the race, with the support of 21% of Republican primary voters across the U.S., but Carson follows with 20% well within the polls 6-percentage-point margin of error.
Just weeks ago, Trump was still the clear front-runner but Carson has been steadily gaining on him since Trumps average performance in the second Republican debate earlier this month.
And just one month ago, in the July NBC/Wall Street Journal poll, Carson attracted only 10% support, compared with Trumps 19%.
In the latest poll, former tech exec Carly Fiorina and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio tied for third, both getting 11% support, while former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush came in fourth with 7%.
Ohio Gov. John Kasich and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz followed with 6% and 5%, respectively, while no other candidate received more than 3% support.
Meanwhile, NBC/Wall Street Journal polling of the Democratic candidates, also released Sunday, showed their race for the nomination tightening too.

Well sure. If you as a pollster know who to poll as in all likelihood you know who they are supporting. They know the demographics of a neighborhood, or they’ve polled these same people before only to re-poll them later knowing that they will likely give you as the pollster the same results.
The pollster works for NBC/WSJ and these guys hate Trump as that in itself should disqualify them as not being unbiased. It doesn’t take much imagination that the pollster is going to tell their employers who are anti-Trump crazies what they want to hear.
Fair enough.
I haven’t been seeing polls with Carson at 20%.
I haven’t been seeing ones with Trump at 21% either.
Carson , if nominated , will lost bigtime to any D . Trump can win .
Hopefully he is smarter than that
GWB didn't bother to combat the lies told about him, and that irritated me.
What really pissed me off is when he abandoned the very troops he sent into battle to be maimed and to die. They essentially were left to suffer and die alone. That was shameful beyond measure.
For evil to prevail, all it takes is for good men to do nothing, and that's what Bush, as CIC, did for his troops, nothing.
Trump has proven that he isn't going to do nothing.
It’s NBC and the WSJ. If CNN rigged the debate audience, why wouldn’t innocent little NBC and WSJ rig the poll?
And you have to add in the PC factor. Everyone is so afraid of being seen as racist.
Probably will.
Well, he is going to make sure that everyone knows that people support him.
For now, that means staying on top of the polls.
That’s why he is not going to let others tear him down using lying polls.
I suppose we finally have an nbc poll that nbc won’t be afraid to report on.
Please, please elect the guy the lamestream media can control.

I don’t know which candidate, Trump or Carson, you’re referring to with this remark ... and I think you’re wrong about both of them. Trump always says what he damn well pleases (though I admit I frequently find it foolish). Carson sometimes shoots from the hip, being unaccustomed to political life, but when he believes something he doesn’t back down. He didn’t back down on the Muslim thing at all though he surely must realize it could hurt him with the black vote. (And this poll indicates it might have actually helped him.)
Someone at Breitbart was thinking on the Dem side as I was in post #49 for the GOP.
BULLSHIT.
He probably did, at least in 2008.
Trump/Carson would be a winning ticket, so would Trump/Cruz.
It’s gonna be a bad day for Trump deniers all the way around.
They really like Sanders in a lot of places so to waste their vote crossing over means that Hillary takes the primary votes.
It’s kind of too bad Carson grabbed that issue because now Trump is stuck looking like a copycat if he brings it up. But maybe not. Maybe it took a black man to bring it up and be believed that he’s not a racist. He legitimized it.
Carry on, you guys. Tag ream Rah!
It's as easy as 1,2,3.
Rigging polls has been done before. A little history lesson for some here. Great Britain in the 1940s had their agents and front groups manipulated Unites States polling data to get desired results to support their war against Germany. It's not much of a stretch to see PMSNBC/CoC WSJ rigging their very own polls.
