Damascus (AFP) - Russia and the United States have reached a "tacit agreement" on ending Syria's bloody crisis, a senior adviser to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has said.

Iranians are Persians. Even though Islam makes them crazy, they have been the center of world spanning empires for a long time. That means they know a thing or two about world politics. I see the Persians as calculating and playing a long game. I don’t see suicidal short term policies from them.

First, Russia has to actually get ISIS. And let's be honest, Russia's biggest hand in Syria will be holding a gun to the Syrian's head to ensure that they don't just drop their weapons and run when faced with a touch situation.
Besides, Russia is just renting Syria - they keep it so long as they keep Assad. If he goes, so does their biggest influence there. As a bonus, they also get a large chunk of Jordan as well. All well and good for the next 10 years or so.
Only problem? ISIS isn't just in Syria, which means they also have to move into Iraq. Now things get really complicated, as the Kurds likely hate Russians just a tiny bit more than they hate the Turks. But hand them a few weapons, and their ISIS problems are over with (and Turkey's are just beginning again.) What would Iraq give to get rid of ISIS? Pretty much what ISIS already has, and it honestly doesn't bother them overly much who controls it, just so long as they leave the southern fields and port alone.
So, what's the solution in Syria? Keeping Syrian soldiers in the field killing ISIS (and whatever idiot rebels get in the way.) Plus heading into Iraq and Russians killing ISIS there too with them getting the inland oil fields and the Kurds getting a tad bit more than an autonomous region.
All I know is that the one place I really wouldn't want to be would be in the ruling cabal in Iran while all of this is going on, as they're not going to appreciate a whole lot of their hard work getting blown to pieces, nor an Iraq which isn't killing itself nicely.
Obama won't do a damn thing about all of this, because 'what difference does it matter' if ISIS is taken out by the Russians or the Syrians or the Iraqis? Just so long as those annoying youtube videos stop making the nightly news.
Our next president will have some very interesting decisions to make.

It’s tacit nothing between Obama and Putin. There’s nothing Obama could do about it. That ship sailed across the ‘red line’ quite a while ago.
Russia stabilizes Syria, Lebanon will follow quickly. Russia gives tacit approval for Iran to influence things in Iraq. Turkey gets to continue harassing the autonomous Kurds. It’s death by suffocation for ISIS.
And it’s no coincidence that at the start of all this the great Muslim population bomb starts out for Europe.

Sadly, you are correct. What has happened in the last 6 years or so is the exact opposite of what we were told, where we are supposed to be respected and like a whole lot more. The stupid reset button with Russia, and on and on.
I think American voters as a majority have finally figured this guy out.

obama’s goal is to trash America, but if it means doing something the lefty crowd sees as hurting his legacy, then he may allow Putin to talk him into doing something good, not for anyone’s benefit except his own, and then take all the credit.

Russia is the winner and so is Iran. Russia ends up controlling oil prices in Europe plus has access to more oil and Iran and Syria are pals and Iran controls Iraq. Obama screwed this nation royally plus our war vets.
