Late in the second Republican debate, "high energy" Donald Trump was sounding sleepy. When moderator Jake Tapper asked him about his history of flubbing it on basic foreign policy issues, he just sounded tired. "The world is blowing up around us," Trump rotely responded. "We will have great teams and great people."
Sen. Marco Rubio, whose campaign trail attack on Trump prompted Tapper's questions, pounced.
"You should ask him questions in detail about the foreign policy issues our president will confront, because you had better be able to lead our country on the first day," Rubio said to Tapper. "Not six months from now, not a year from now, on the first day in office, our president could very well confront a national security crisis. You can't predict it. Sometimes you cannot control it."
Trump's response "I am not sitting in the United States Senate. I'm a businessman" was basically no response at all. It was a devastating indictment of the Donald's qualifications to be president, one well-pitched to a party that's become increasingly anxious about world affairs since the rise of ISIS.
But it was much more than that. The Trump-Rubio exchange, overshadowed by some of the flashier showdowns in the media post-mortems, was one of the most important moments of the night. It showed that Marco Rubio is the most viable Republican Trump-slayer: an articulate, confident conservative with foreign policy expertise that far outstrips the other major candidates. His poll numbers make him look like a dark horse, but last night's debate revealed that Rubio has a real and increasingly viable shot at winning the nomination.

Roofio, the RINO Establishment pissant ?
Rubio is a neocon.
Neocons have caused us problems in Iran, Iraq, Libya, Egypt, Yemen, and Syria.
No more foreign wars on borrowed money from China!
After the national debt is paid off, we will be in better position to act as world police and foreign adventures.
He lied to his supporters. He turned out to be no better than the Orange Menace.
Geeez here we go again. The Rubio exchange with Trump was polite and to the point by both. This is just another hit piece.
My thoughts are that they will take over Syria and we will actually see bible prophecy fullfilled right before our eyes on TV with the prophecy of Damascus being destored in one day.
I believe ISIS will over trow Assad but will not announce it to the world until some time later, months or weeks later.
It won’t be the Russians or Americans dropping a nuke on Damascus.
However I can see some kind of scenario where the US will drop a nuke or Israel on Damascus.
We are living in the days where that will be fullfilled, perhaps weeks or months from now.
he has the ability to explain foreign policy and other topics in a 2 minute or less clearly and concisely.”
He should. He hears it every day of the week. What else does he have to do? It’s not like he is trying to keep a business going and trying to have to do so while trying to figure out how to comply with some of the inane regulations passed by Congress.
Of course he was defensive and lame, it was a question about the issues. Trump doesn’t like those.
Trump is a blowhard who is too lazy to study foreign policy or prepare for the debates. Rubio ripped him apart. Trump the entertainer is a joke.
Rubberio showed himself to be much too flexible with his Gang activities.
He did acquit himself well in the debate. He should be more informed about foreign policy than most people. If he weren’t, he wouldn’t be there.
I will not vote for anyone who will not uphold the rule of law.
Changing the laws to benefit those breaking them is always bad policy.
And some of those Spanish language speeches were at La Raza events.
A Hispanic David Duke isn’t the correct answer to any problem.
Marco has become a lying sweaty twit.
Rubio is a total liar. Defending him is disgusting.
Rubio will never go anywhere. GOP goes too hawkish and they will lose.
Anything coming from "VOX" is automatic idiocy and it is a waste of time to even contemplate it.
yeah, marco might bore him to death with his immigrant family sob story which he repeats ad nauseum
[snip] Markos Moulitsas, the founder of the terrible ultra liberal "news" sites Daily Kos and Vox... [/snip]
Marco Rubio’s smart but true conservatives can’t take his ‘immigration’ stance... that ended his chances with me.
Would that be the same Marco Rubio who joined Bat-Poop Crazy democrats Sen. Charles Scmucky Schumer [D-NY], Sen. Robert Menendez [D-NJ], and Sen. Richard Durbin [D-IL] in the Gang Of Eight to support amnesty for illegals back in 2013?>You left off”and still supports” but other than that you nailed it.
