Missing The Mark: The Criticism Of NPR's Climate March Coverage
NPR ^ | 3/10/14 | Edward Schumacher-Matos

~snip Driving the email barrage was an open letter to me in the liberal Daily Kos by one of its bloggers, Assaf Oron. He wrote that, "I have long suspected - with good evidence - that NPR news does little more than shill for the same interest that dominate our politics and mainstream media, albeit with a high-brow veneer. I think the final proof has arrived today." ~snip

Lefties seem to find vulgarity amusing.

Good opportunity to defund NPR and PBS, as well as the ‘arts’ orgs!

>> high-brow veneer

Like that.

Compressed elitism in my opinion.

In all seriousness, they have a point. It’s a rare hour or even half hour indeed on NPR when they don’t

- blame something on global warming
- chide or threaten global warming “deniers” individually by name or as a group
- demand more government research into global warming
- demand more taxation to fight global warming
- offer experts proffering new mechanisms of global warming or “proofs” that global warming is getting worse
- explain away research that shows that global warming isn’t as bad as they say it is, or isn’t getting worse

If you’re used to a nearly quarter-hourly diet of that, and simply shout at the radio all through “Car Talk” and occasionally “Fresh Air”, you’re going to look like red-faced Yosemite Sam with steam coming out of his ears if NPR doesn’t give full coverage to the event of the year.

Yes, NPR must avoid the appearance of conflicts of interests, but where do you draw the line? Should it not accept money from the government? From foundations? From private individuals? Should it just fold up its tent and disappear?

Well, now that you mention it...
