Bernie Sanders is getting a lot of credit for supposedly stepping into the lions den at Liberty University. In fact, the students at that evangelical university founded by Jerry Falwell are far more polite and well-behaved than their counterparts at most other campuses. There was zero danger of disruption, but the media swells who gushed over his courage do not know much about Liberty and its standards of conduct. As I type this, Mike Barnicle on Morning Joe is calling the speech Incredible just incredible. Mika Brzezinski (of course) echoed him. Eugene Robinson, the Pulitzer Prize-winner of the WaPo, called it powerful. (For some reason, everyone is calling it Liberty College when, in fact, it is well-known as Liberty University. Is this a way of demoting it?)
So Bernie took advantage of his audiences politeness and served up a bunch of sound bites intended for television viewers and his base (and for media lefties).

I had to quit using that metaphor because the 6 watt LED bulb I bought for my living room is actually pretty bright.
Bernie Sander’s should be called “Egypt”, because he leaves a pyramid of BS everywhere he goes.
(with thanks to Rodney Dangerfield)
Yep. LED bulbs are almost at that sweet spot of pricing where I will begin to phase out other bulb technology in my home. [I just realized I am typing under the light of an LED desk lamp.]
LOL! Ya know, when we bought out house there were about 14 can lights that had those friggin’ flourescent (sp?) bulbs in them and I replaced them all with LED bulbs that I think are “rated” as 13 watts. What a difference. Don’t know if the price has come down but they weren’t cheap when I bought them. Been over 3 years and we haven’t replaced one yet. And they’re sure a lot brighter than what was in there.
Where in the hell did this guy come from? I know, Vermont. I would be happy to contribute to a one-way ticket for him to Cuba or Venezuela where he could fully enjoy his Communism he so radically desires. The good part of having this person around is that he is a poster child for the Democrat Party which has swung so far left, Marx would be jealous.
What a disgrace to America to have this guy any where near a presidential election process.
What am I going to do with my attic full of 100w incandescent bulbs I bought before they were banned?
Cross out where it says “100 Watt” and write 98 watts and viola, they’re legal. I did see that someone is (as usual) smarter than the controllers and actually started producing 58 watt bulbs instead of 60 watt-ers. Duh! No panic, just change the output. LOL!
If Ted Cruz were to speak at an equivalent leftist University like, say, Univ. of CA at Berkeley, just imagine the politeness (sarc!)
How is this different from what he serves up everywhere else he has spoken?
Me too. I bought every 40, 60, 75 and 100 watt bulb I could find. I have a ten year or more supply.
Well, they are a tolerant bunch at berserkley aren’t they. Then again they’ll prostrate themselves when berinie or hildebeast show up there. Swooning will be taking place to be under the glow of such awesomeness. (So much for my breakfast)
They make great targets to practice accuracy with a buggy whip!
Unless the school had some knowledgeable adult there to counter what this long-time, far left, veteran politician said, they should not have allowed him to speak to the kids. Otherwise, he could easily sway or influence some of them. He’s clearly out of his mind, but he speaks articulately and would probably come across to many kids as credible. Many young people are naive, impressionable, and fairly easily manipulated.
Using Karl Marx’s ideas to help the middle class is like using Adolf Hitler’s ideas to help the Jews.
Karl Marx HATED the middle class.
But the middle class Marxists keep voting for Bernie Sanders.
And I submitted a column to the American Thinker 5 months ago saying pretty much everything this column is saying.
Now it’s considered brilliant.
Thanks guys. :)
This is an area where we had to wait for the technology and manufacturing to get us to a practical pricing. A 13w LED is equivalent to a 85w incandescent with longer life and very little heat. I worked at an entertainment venue years ago and had a weekly task with a LONG pole to change dead bulbs. Dropped a few and that is a mess.
Dropped in the place about 4 years ago and they had changed to twisty CFL bulbs. I asked and was told that they use extension platforms to change out dead CFLs because a dropped one was a NIGHTMARE in needing certified clean-up. I will have to wander back and see if they have changed again.
I see where Amazon has a single 13w LED for about $10 while equivalent CFLs are around $3 each. IIRC, 80w Incandescents were in the $1 range but much shorter life span. My opinion is that we will be seeing a continued price drop in LEDs but that they need to work on light diffusion still.
More frightening than the old fool himself is the fact of the large crowds he draws coupled with the earlier election of the negro community organizer from Chicago as President. Have Americans lost their cohesion, their confidence, the fact that they are a “People?”
1. Yard sale.
2. eBay.
I agree. They should have had Ted Cruz, Matt Staver or someone equally adept "for the rebuttal", like broadcasters do after the State of the Union speech.
Actually, at Berkeley, the lefties would protest Hillary!. She is not nearly far enough left for them.
