FULL TITLE >> Salon: Donald Trumps Call of the Wild Beyond Racism, Nativism Plays to Embattled Tribal Identity of White America
From Andrew OHehir writing at Salon:
At some point during the Iran hostage crisis of 1980 an event that, lest we forget, decisively scuttled the presidency of Jimmy Carter and got Ronald Reagan elected I remember seeing a hand-painted banner outside a working-class tavern in South Baltimore. Its centerpiece was a caricature of the Ayatollah Khomeini, done in political-cartoon style with an oversized head and undersized body. Irans Supreme Leader was bent over with his robe hitched up to his waist, wincing in pain or religious ecstasy as a large bomb with streamlined 1958 Cadillac fins, bearing the atomic symbol and the American flag, was thrust between his buttocks. Beneath this was written, How long, Mr. President? How long?
This outsider-art masterwork made a huge impression on me, although I wasnt sure why at the time and understand it only a little better today. I couldnt tell you where I was in my adolescent political evolution at that moment: Did I think I was a Marxist or a libertarian or a Democrat? In any event, I couldnt quite get my head around the multiple layers of hatred and cruelty and infantile viciousness in that image, the way it conjured up genocide and xenophobia and anti-Islamic bigotry and homosexual rape and a tribal revenge fantasy in a few simple brushstrokes.

If Salon does not like him, then Trump can not be all bad...
I regret going to the link.
Its so fun watching these bed wetters soil themselves.
so the Iran hostage crisis scuttled carter’s failed presidency??
here i thought a crap economy, double digit interest rates, equally high unemployment, high oil/gas prices and an incompetent fool who said it was all just a crisis of confidence had a lot to do with it...
Answered his own question in his very next sentence.
Salon: Literary vomitus that even libtards don’t read. Why continue to reference them?
I think it’s hilarious.
VOX and Salon competing as to who is the biggest POS?
The Iranians let the non-white hostages go, and they went. Deal with that, salon race-baiters at Salon.
It was just by “coincidence” that the hostages were released within minutes of Ronald Reagan taking the oath of office.
"Secretariat, a horse who up until now we innocently thought of as merely very fast. We learn the horse is a carrier not merely of Ron Turcotte's 130 pounds, but of Nazism, racism, Tea Party ideology and the dark side of Christianity."
"The movie itself is ablaze with its own crazy sense of purpose," O'Hehir writes, "...as if someone just off-screen were burning a cross on the lawn."
Salon: the home of homosexual adolescents.
Embattled Tribal Identity of White America
I’m glad there’s none of that here on FR.
Where’s the dislike button?
Andrew OHehir, another tragic case of high self-esteem for no apparent reason.
Like abortion?
