In this interview with Greta on Fox News, Ben Carson explained why he thought Trumps deport em all policy was unworkable and why a guest worker program makes more sense.

Im not sure I agree completely with Ben Carson on that as far as Ive heard, the component price of produce having to do with labor is about 10%. So DOUBLING the wages you pay someone would only mean a 10% raise in the price of tomatoes. Would Americans be willing to pick tomatoes if they were paid $15-$20 an hour? I have a feeling they would.

There used to be ‘guest worker’ programs where the immigrant went back home after harvest, or after a given period of time. Nowadays, many people take the phrase ‘guest worker’ as just another phrase or phase that will lead to total amnesty and full citizen’s rights. Dr. Ben will need to define exactly what he means by that term, and the test will be whether his answers remain consistent from one interview to the other.
Carson jumps on board The Cheap Labor Express...........
It’s not that Americans won’t do the work...they CAN’T. The labor jobs I worked from 14 to 18 in the summer and fall aren’t even available to Americans anymore. All those jobs are now taken by illegals for less than minimum wage in cash under the table, and no need to pay benefits or insurance.
the black jeb speaks.
Don’t work don’t eat.
Dr. Carson, now that he's being asked specifics, seems very confused. Perhaps he's yet another conservative-on-one-issue kind of guy.
Dr. Carson making a statement like this shows that he does not have real confidence in the ability of US citizens to turn the country around. Perhaps he should've run as a Democrat.
“Americans stopped doing harder jobs because rich pigs decided theyd rather employ illegals for third-world wages than obey the law.”
Speaking to your point, I used to know of several American owned roofing/home construction companies that did hire only Americans, and paid them a decent wage.
Until they tried to compete with all the others who hired DREAMERS. The result? Without exception the choice was to use cheap illegals or go out of business.
“Would Americans be willing to pick tomatoes if they were paid $15-$20 an hour? I have a feeling they would.”
They certainly will if they no longer have the luxury of collecting ‘benefits’ by not working.
They don’t work, they starve. Shut down the damned welfare and people will start working...or else they can migrate to Mexico for better pickings.
Hey Carson Fed-Ex and UPS always hiring get 4 hours of intensive aerobic exercise and a pay check .why you don’t try it for a few months to see how America works.
Another out of touch candidate. I teach at an all Boys, inner city, Catholic HS in NYC, and I have classrooms full of juniors and seniors who WANT TO WORK the same jobs I and my friends had when we went to the same school, 35-40 years ago. Waiting and bussing tables, light construction, landscaping, fast food outlets, shelf stocking, all jobs my students want and need and cannot get, because they are taken by illegals. Same thing with college age students and recent college graduates. Sorry Dr. Ben, you’re wrong.
Yep. A race to the bottom. The government won’t enforce the law, so that’s the way it’s gone. It didn’t have to be this way.
By the way, I shouldn’t have said just “rich pigs.” Many of them are rich pigs, but a lot are small business owners... still traitorous actions in my opinion.
Eliminate welfare and unemployment then see who will work.
Some people I know who are highly intelligent are smart enough to be humble- for real. They work well with others and people like to work with them
And then there are some who won’t give certain others the time of day. And a lot of the time they are right
And then there are some who think that they are superior to most people. Like Ben Carson
He thinks he’s smarter than the founding fathers. That’s a problem.
Is someone cooking his approval numbers?
Jerry Sanders,,,founder of AMD paid his way through college as a prize fighter.
Automation is one third the answer, improved work conditions involving that automation is the second third, and higher wages the final component.
We did fine before the flood of illegals, and we’ll do fine after them.
I find Carson’s assessment offensive and out of touch.
Huh?
