The rise of Donald Trump might represent some massive sea change in American politicsbut its far more likely he will fade long before the primary season does. Thanks to Trump, August was a blockbuster month for the political press, but most of what is happening now wont decide who is sworn in on Jan. 20, 2017

#7. Trump is still unlikely to be the nominee. Were not disputing that Donald Trump is the clear polling frontrunner on the GOP side, or that he has struck a chord with millions of voters unimpressed with politicians that talk rather than do. Two other candidates whove never held elected office, Ben Carson and Carly Fiorina, are also attracting large shares of support.
However, the Trump candidacy has all the markings of an early bubble that will eventually burst. Were betting that most Republicans will return to traditional politicians as the election season rolls on. Out of the current 17 GOP candidates, five come closest to meeting the usual metrics required to win a major-party nomination: Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio, Scott Walker, Ted Cruz and John Kasich.
As concerned as many are about Bushs dynasty burdens and Jebs uneven, unexciting performances on the trail, he still has the best chance to win over the party establishment (big donors and big-name politicians). Plus, his $119 million, and growing, war chest is far greater than those of his rivals.

I keep hearing *this* assertion, time and again. What proof is proffered to buttress this assertion? I've seen none at this point...

Wow, I can’t wait for Jeb Bush to get ripe. Will the media let us know?
Usually that GOP nominee will get crushed by the "younger, hipper" Democrat nominee but sometimes that that GOP nominee will squeak out the necessary 270 electoral vote if the Democrats put up somebody just as odious (Dukakis, Gore, Kerry, etc.).
They’re still waiting for his polling to catch up with his fundraising...
They’re scared cause their man is drowning.
keep telling yourself that.
They keep missing this: the GOP base has had it, and it’s not coming back.
Yeah, yeah we’ve heard this all before...
It’s the same old crap that the RINO’s keep putting out to go along with the msm, talking heads, and the GOPee because they are losing and peeing their panties...
Trump is here to stay, so get used to it!!!
Wishful RAT dreaming.
Yeah, RATs will pick who GOP should put up, riiiiight
Jeb doesn’t have $119 million any more. He’s spent over $20 million of it already on consultants, hotels, travel, etc and his fundraising has collapsed.
BUMP! We’re long gone. No more GOPe.
Yup...like that Van Morrison song: Real, real gone:)
“...but its far more likely he will fade long before the primary season does...
Keep dreaming that & get back to us after the convention next year.
Nationally Bush is in single digits but we have to wait for the Southern Border votes to come in doncha know? Otherwise he has to rely on Common Core math
Based on what, exactly?
The statement is oxymoronic on its face. If Trump represents a real sea change in American politics, then it's a pretty fair guess to conclude that he's not likely to fade during the primary.
The country has reached a boiling point. We're well into an existential crisis that nearly all of the pundits, talking heads, and political 'experts' are missing. It's precisely WHY Trump is resonating with such an astonishing number of voters from across the political spectrum.
The bigger story is going to be how so many in the intelligentsia and professional pondering classes missed such a cavernous historical shift.
