Trump: Megyn Kelly should apologize to me
The Hill ^ | August 10, 2015 | Jesse Byrnes

Businessman Donald Trump on Monday tried to move beyond his controversial remark that Fox News host Megyn Kelly had "blood coming out of her ... wherever," saying he was not the one who should apologize. "The fact is she asked me a very inappropriate question. She should really be apologizing to me," the Republican presidential candidate said Monday on MSNBC's "Morning Joe."

It may sound sacrilegious (to his boosters and to his de-boosters) but I don’t care about Trump’s chances at this point.
All I care about is that he’s helping conservatives now.

He’s keeping Bush from leading in the polls and he got tens of millions of people to watch the debates and be exposed to Cruz, Carson, etc. unfiltered by the media.
People who wouldn’t have watched.
OTOH there is NO quantifiable damage he’s done to conservatives.

In a few months he may well present problems to conservatives but that’s a ‘lifetime’ away as they say in politics.

The problem for Trump is he must stay in the limelight and to do that he must become ever more and more outrageous until he crosses more and more lines and alienates more and more people.

But just the opposite is happening. His poll numbers have been going up after he spoke the truth about criminal aliens, Mexico, and John McCain. The pundits all predicted his demise after each incident. Something he says must be resonating among the public. The MSM are the ones punching the tar baby called Donald Trump. They are the ones who look bad with each attack.

The limelight gravitates toward Trump, not the other way around. The MSM can't get enough of him. They, along with the GOPe, are obsessed with how they can take him down. They keep losing. If they were smart, they would reduce coverage of Trump, but that would mean lower ratings. And if one network like Fox would boycott him, the others would jump in to get the ratings.

The more he bashes Megan Kelly the more he taints whatever legitimacy he had acquired for plain talk about hard issues. Now it's just gutter talk about personalities.

As I said, it will continue as long a Trump benefits from it as well as the media, which gets higher ratings and ad revenue. 24 million watched the first debate, a huge unprecedented audience for such an event on cable. CNN hosts the next one. Do you think they will shy away from building the hype to September 16? At the center will be The Donald. No Trump, no audience. I bet you will be watching along with the rest of us.

Fine with me. As long as the GOPe candidates are trailing, I love it.

When President Harry Truman picked up his “Washington Post” early on December 6, 1950, to read a review of his daughter Margaret Truman’s singing performance, he was livid. Though conceding that Miss Truman was “extremely attractive,” Paul Hume, the “Post’s” music critic, stated bluntly that “Miss Truman cannot sing very well” and “has not improved” over the years. The president wrote the following letter to the 34-year old Hume, whom he compared to the columnist Westbrook Pegler (”a rat,” in Truman’s view).

THE WHITE HOUSE
WASHINGTON

Mr Hume:

I’ve just read your lousy review of Margaret’s concert. I’ve come to the conclusion that you are an “eight ulcer man on four ulcer pay.”

It seems to me that you are a frustrated old man who wishes he could have been successful. When you write such poppy-cock as was in the back section of the paper you work for it shows conclusively that you’re off the beam and at least four of your ulcers are at work.

Some day I hope to meet you. When that happens you’ll need a new nose, a lot of beefsteak for black eyes, and perhaps a supporter below!

Pegler, a gutter snipe, is a gentleman alongside you. I hope you’ll accept that statement as a worse insult than a reflection on your ancestry.

H.S.T.

The key to fighting back effectively is the quick two-second sound byte that punches the opposition in the face and hits the American voter in the gut or the heart, depending on where it’s aimed. Ronald Reagan knew this instinctively and tapped into it effortlessly. And he did so without going into the gutter, and I agree with you that rolling in the gutter is self-defeating. But look at some of Reagan’s classics:

“I have just passed legislation that outlaws the USSR. The bombing starts in five minutes.”

“Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall.”

On why he hadn’t had a summit with the Soviet premier for much of his first term: “I’d love to but they keep dying on me.”

And his classic line for Jimmy Carter: “There you go again.”

The public doesn’t have the time, the depth of knowledge, or the inclination to get tangled up with in-depth policy proposals. They want “hope and change,” or “Morning in America,” or “make America Great Again.” You and I want the details, but the mass of voters who will decide our country’s fate don’t need that. If the electorate really thought about policy details and their implications, “Under my plan, electric rates would necessarily skyrocket” would have sealed the 2008 election.

I want a candidate who hits back with a quick, devastating non-snarky rebuttal. Someone asked me last time who I wanted as a candidate, and I replied “Ronald Reagan.” Still true. but I’ll take someone who can do the above. I think Cruz can, not sure Walker can.

Trump has to be the most self centered egotistical bastard that ever ran for President. Typical Born and Raised NYC Arrogant Asshole.

Yeah, but is he asshole enough to win the Presidency?

(LBJ was a choirboy, after all, and Kennedy had no connections to organized crime, etc.)

Kelly is loving all the attention she is getting. She has become a national figure. Fox loves it as well. If ratings drop, it may be a different story. It will be interesting to see the upcoming ratings for Kelly's show and Fox cable news.

I bet there is someone at CNN planning now how to become the next Megyn Kelly for the CNN-hosted debate on September 16. CNN wants an even bigger audience for a failing cable network. It will be a shot in the arm for them. Trump equals a big audience.

If Trump can’t handle criticism and tough questions he shouldn’t be running.

I am so sick of this story enough !!!

The left has won.

A week ago, Trump was talking about illegal aliens.

Now, he's talking about a brainless wanna-be porn star.

Since I read this morning that Fox is trying to get him to show up with Hannity or someone tonight, he might be negotiating for an apology.

For an old retired Army guy, I wonder, if you were around back then, if you'd be on the lynch squad for General Patton slapping a guy? Trump has nothing on the mouth and actions of General Patton.

Trump is not doing himself any favors here.

In fairness, you have a case of Trump Derangement Syndrome, so even when he takes in a breath of air you get all pissed.

LOL...

See, you are a typical supporter of Trump. You, like others, simply refuse to answer questions because you can’t...or you’ll be exposed for supporting a Leftist.

If we question your guy, we have a case of TDS, or we are RINO’s, or Jeb plants. You really are pathetic...

BTW, the issues should be over...do you disagree that Donald isn’t doing any favors? Look, I know you don’t think much, but isn’t my advise HELPING Trump?
